Happy Hump Day, y'all ๐Ÿ˜Today I want to talk about being in the customer service industry

Dear Steem Diary

You know I am in the customer service industry, working front of house in the luxe antique shop.

I was reminded by Stacey, (you remember the girl who does my lashes?) of how we are capable of just turning on the charm, the instant smile. How Can I Help YOU?

AT YOUR MOST HUMBLE FUCKING SERVICE

this is my photo for the shop's website, so very eager beaver, amirite?

Anyway, I digress, what's new? ๐Ÿ˜‚

So, I was at Stace's for an appointment, and, I guess she is comfortable enough in front of me to be herself, as she called over one of her colleagues, and started complaining about something that was happening in the salon.

Then, after my appointment, I was waiting to pay, when another client came in. It was so funny to see Stace go from her normal, straight face, to Miss Customer Service of the Year.

It got me thinking of how, people in this industry, are able to turn on the charm at the drop of a hat. I know I am just like that.

I can go from a hunched, frowning witch, grumbling to my colleague, "What the fuck is wrong with these fucking people, like come on!" to the sunshineyist (yes, I made that word up) most beaming ray of light. "Hello, how are you? Air kisses, mwah, mwah, oh very well, darling.

LOL, it's a skill, I have to tell you. But it's not fake. I am genuinely happy to see my clients, and being like this, in this industry, just means that you put your own hassles and troubles aside, and put your customer, and the task at hand, first. It means, not eating, not running to the loo, just to be able to assist. I think, in a way, it is just something that people pleasers do naturally

I have the most hilarious video to share with you, please watch it, you will absolutely die! It's an antique dealer in Nottingham, London, who is helping his clients, but making fun of them at the same time ๐Ÿ˜‡. I feel like this sometimes to be honest. LOL - don't judge me!!

What about you? Do you have funny moments to share from your job?

Dear Steem Diary, all my emotions jumbled on this here page. I'll be back next Wednesday. Love you. Bye.

This is funny and yet so true, I could never pull that off cos my face shows it all!!

hehe, that is something I have had to train myself on, as my face is very expressive. LOL. So I just plaster a permanent smile on my face, and adjust the level of beaminess from beaming from outer space to slight all around glow ๐Ÿคช

Yah. retail makes you nutz!

Hahahaha. You made me laugh with this confession!! I think all people who work with clients are usually like that, although I've been unlucky enough to find some that are a kick in the #*$%&. I hate them and even advertise them badly. As a teacher I can't pay for my bad day with the students either, but if they are the cause of my bad day, they should take out the umbrella because the storm that falls on them is to be afraid. Hahaha. my students say that I arrive with the face of a few friends when there is an exam and they also say that just by looking at my face they know if they have done well in the exam or not. Apparently they already know my face of anger and joy. Have a nice evening, @pricessmewmew!

lololol! but it's the truth, Nancy !! ๐ŸคชI can't imagine you being a scary teacher.

Ahahahaha. That's a fun video.

I did customer service for several years. But I only did phone support once. With chat or email I could scream at the sky, but real time I just couldn't stand the idiocy. I actually put the guy on hold so I could call him a stupid fuck. Not a good option.

The point being that we had a phone genius in the company. He was so good at it that many months he was also our number one salesperson. It is an amazing talent.

Of course, he had some incredibly bad habits. Melted down, stole money from the company. Last I heard he was driving for Uber.

Thanks for a great look at the "Happy Princess".

lololol, once I slammed the phone down and shouted CUNT WHORE! (lol - excuse me!) and realised that the client was still there and possibly heard me... OOPS

LOL
that video is hilarious

When I was on radio, we could be having the worst day, but when the mic is switched on the the day was absolutely glorious, life was amazing
And when we played a song we didn't like, on air, it was the best song ever hahaha

Thank you for sharing @princessmewmew :D

haha, that sounds fun! what kind of radio show did you have?

It's your regular Music Radio stations :)
Except for one, which was for women so that had a lot more talk :D

@princessmewmew hahaha wow, I would love to learn that charm of yours!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š How did you acquire it and what is your advice to those who would like to? (:

hehehe, years and years of practise, and much patience and inner dialogue ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

You'll be back wednesday?

I just wrote a quick post with my feelings. I think this is the day to get it out.

Customer service is not what it used to be and on the phone especially.
I call the insurance people and the lady sounds like I am bugging her.

We all have our days but I believe customer service has to be one of the hardest jobs in the world.

hehe, yes, I write my Dear Steem Diary entry every Wednesday. I will hop on over to your blog to have a look x

thanks :)

This looked like a great post for me to get a grasp of the Princess, and I guess I couldn't have been more correct.
I agree, a seasoned professional sales person can turn on the "customer charm mode" in the blink of an eye and be sincere in doing so. It is just like any other profession that requires certain skill and deployed when necessary to complete the task at hand, which is building a relationship with the customer. I have always told my customers that I don't want them as a customer for one sale, I want them as a customer for life and I have turned down orders for product that I knew wasn't going to be in the customer's best interest a few months down the road.
So both you and Stacy understand how it works and have mastered that skill. There is nothing fake about good customer service and the test of time is where the proof is found.
I loved that video and I also am pretty fond of antique items as well, I grew up going with my mother to plenty of estate and yard sales looking for and finding the good deals on old furniture that needed refinishing. There is something about good old solid wood furniture that is to be admired and I have recently started my young girls on refinishing old wood rocking chairs. So we share an interest in antiques as well. I will look for Thursday feature you talked about in another post, that should be very interesting.
See you soon.
