RE: Living Debt Free is a Choice
“They don't get that we completely understand living life on their terms. We worked J. O. B. 's for many years. My husband is still punching someone else's time clock.
Because we live off grid they act like we are out of touch with reality. When in fact the reality of the situation is exactly WHY we chose to go off grid.”
AMEN, sistah! 🙌🏼
My husband and I have been running the family farm for almost the last 15 years, slowly eeking our way out of debts accrued when we took over, and then four years ago I handed in my resignation to my town job because I needed to be home with my kid. While I have doubted my sanity now and then (usually when money is tight), I haven’t regretted choosing to be home with my boys, tending the garden, orchard, and our small cow herd. 💕 I love it. I want to get more off the grid, or at least more free of everyone’s expectations. The way people live today is so screwed up... I want a simple, honest life.
I read a quote once, something about “have the courage to live your life in a way others don’t understand.”
Oh you just got a new follower. Lol I'm glad you made that choice to be with your kids. It's one of my biggest regrets time missed. I'm hoping she will come help me run the farm when I get it going. I'm praying for it.
Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my blog post!
Thank you!
I am glad, too. Even though the “days are long but the years are short” as they say, and my transition to full-time mommy was rough, I know later I will be grateful indeed.
Raising kids on a farm is a wonderful thing! I grew up on my Grandma’s horse farm, and then married a cattle rancher, and I can’t imagine living in the city. Nothing beats the stars at night! Or eating tree-ripened fruit right off the tree. Or the smell of the freshly cut hayfield. 💕 It’s hard work, but it’s honest work. Nothing beats making a living with your hands as a farmer, craftsman, homesteader, etc.
