decentralisation fanclub.. with multirule restricted discord channels.. besides a few
Hello people,
There is something that I find quite strange, which is that now days the amount of discord channels of steemit groups is so high i left a lot of them and join new ones and leave again if its not my likes. What I find though is that many of those discord groups are full of restrictions to members.. there are so many rules provided in the gross of the discord channels I join its almost like if people forget what about the blockchain all is meant for , namely decentralisation.
An example is as follow, you join a discord server, and are ristricted for 10 minutes to even start to talk. Then you are almost forced to read ''rules'' in the 10 minutes time, and then when you're finally allowed to talk you get warnings slinged around your head that whenever you do something that is violating the slightest rule you get kicked out. And also, in a lot of those you can't do anything because you aren't allowed to go into servers.
I ''own'' or better say, run 2 servers namely SMA https://discord.gg/jHKFUwY and the dutch Lionslegionhttps://discord.gg/BK4uPqq . I know how it goes around with server, and find it completely nonsense to come over like some kind of underground or secret society to live by the rules. These servers are mainly curation servers and the concept of decentralisation almost seem completely forgotten for some reason. This is an issue which I find disturbing, how much I want to not think of it.
Also the big PAL server is completely centralised and a dictatorship according to how many rules there are. Well don't get me wrong everybody should decide what to do with the server but as many follow the example of pal, 90 % of all discord channels I visited totally feel like you are trying to enter some kind of movement or freemasons clubs.
This sucks. I praise because of that the @whaleshares server and others that are around where we see the #beyondbitcoin crew around like EOS talks and bitshares. These discord channels at least are ''free'' and you can make mistakes, without directly getting kicked. It also shows the radio which is very popular to be open and free. Like the curation show of @freedomexist for example, where the only rules is that you shut up if someone else is promoting their posts and you need to have push to talk enabled.
The servers I am admin in are also likely to be free as much as possible... Why should i have restrictions? Okay I can understand that some people only join servers to drop posts in and leave again.. but for the SMA it is only pleasant to post things in the right rooms, and i can tell you that happens not always like it should, but you don't get kicked out ? and for the dutch lions legion there is only a restriction for unknown members, who haven't posted their account yet to get acces to everything.
People let's not forget the meaning of decentralisation, and freedom, lets embrace freedom and keep everything as free as possible, why should we act like to belong to some group or secret special society ? whats the point of that ? recognitions ? or what?
admins of discord servers, i ask you... are you following decentralised aims or are you just like all these governmental people and party's only giving shit for your own status or projects? Keep it real.. because if you don't , you belong more on a platform like facebook.
moral of this story is: Don't act all pro decentralisation while your servers are actually the complete opposite.. give everybody enough space to be.
Bye and peace

chill a bit right! discord should be fun, not run by all kinds of boundaries.
Just be social, and you will be fine
just a point of view, because thats how i see it, also as admin i believe it must be open to have fun on discord in the way we had it tonight ;) but you will notice some server where you cant see the forrest trough the trees anymore
As much as I like freedom, complete freedom is not an answer. A server is kind of the owner's living room, while steemit is like a public square. When in someone's home, you do as they say. Now, I totally agree that some servers might have stupid rules, so ... fuck 'em! :)
no i see it differently a server is a hangout for a community... and a community with all kind of stupid rules where the owner is the one and only dictator is not very community friendly
I agree with the last part. Still, a server can be that, same as you can bring in friends for a beer. But it can also be some other event, where rules apply. I agree that having a ton of rules is shit, though.
