Uyghurs & Other Muslim Minorities Forced into Labor Programs to Work in Chinese Factories | Democracy Now!
In China, a shocking incipient exposé has revealed that Chinese ascendant entities are systematically coercing Muslims — mostly Uyghurs and Kazakhs — into labor programs to supply Chinese factories with a frugal and compliant workforce.
The labor program is discrete but cognate, and it involves taking people from — primarily from southern Xinjiang and sending them to northern Xinjiang, to other components of China, to work in factories, to work, as the video showed, as street cleaners, to put them in more formal labor, as opposed, often, to the farm work that they did afore.
China claims its labor programs are “vocational training centers” designed to combat extremism and alleviate impecuniosity, while Uyghur activists verbalize they are a component of China’s perpetual campaign to divest them of their language and community and to carry out cultural genocide.
