imho its not so difficult, just post a bit, comment a bit -if you want invest a bit- and over time you make good friends and like-minded steemians. If lucky you make a great post that your friends like or it starts a interesting discussion. Anyways that is what a sicial network is about isnt it. If you invest you can hope for cap gain and dividends are a given if you invest and power up. Any social network is just like life on the 'real' community - you talk make contacts befriend be successful or fail just like life. Best of luck with your life and here on steemit!
