7-11 dogs in Thailand

No matter where you go in this country, there are going to be 7-11 stores nearby. I was once on an island that up until last year, didn't have electricity and I went back this year and there is a 7-11. They don't waste any time getting these stores set up!

7-11 shops also always tend to have some stray dogs that live at it or at least sleep there in relative safely . There is no company policy that I am aware of that actually looks after these animals, I think they are just a lot more likely to get some sort of food given to them with all the people that come and go from any 7-11 in the country.

YOu don't have to search the internet for very long to find images of 7-11 dogs. I think another part of the reason why they gravitate towards 7-11's is also the same reason why I do at times. The powerful air conditioning can really be a game changer

Some of the 7-11's that I have been to will usher the dogs outside if they get too comfortble but others seem to not mind if they come inside.

I don't know if 7-11 did it because some posts became viral online or because they actually care but 7-11, not that long ago the Thai 7-11 management launched the "Love Dog Community" that will give 7-11 "mascots" basic medical care such as dealing with flea and ticks as well as mange. The real solution here would be to do those things as well as provide sterilization but I suppose any help we can get from giant corporations is a welcome thing. There are an estimated 8000 7-11 stores in Thailand, and that is a lot of dogs to look after. I hope that the company actually follows up on their promise. I think I will look into it to make sure it wasn't just an idle promise.

In the meantime if you want to see a bunch of cute dogs perched outside of 7-11 their Facebook group is actually quite popular although it is almost entirely in Thai language.
