The Day I Chose Silence Over Noise
There was a time in my life when I couldn't go a single day without the noise. Music in my ears, TV in the background, endless scrolling through social media – anything to avoid hearing my own thoughts. I thought I was just keeping myself "entertained," but deep down, I was avoiding something.
Then, one weekend, the power went out for hours. No noise. No screens. Just me, the window light, and silence. At first, it was uncomfortable… even scary. I didn’t know what to do with myself. But slowly, I began to listen — not to music or news, but to myself.
I found an old notebook and started writing. The words came out messy at first, but then they started to make sense. I wrote about fears I’d buried, dreams I’d forgotten, and things I’d never dared to say aloud. And when the power came back, I didn’t reach for my phone right away. I sat there, in the quiet, and smiled.
Because for the first time in a long time, I felt… peaceful.
Now, I dedicate at least 15 minutes every morning to silence. No distractions. Just me, my thoughts, maybe a journal or a cup of tea. That little shift changed how I face my day — more focused, more grounded, more me.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, maybe try turning off the noise for a while. You’d be surprised what you hear in the quiet.

Greetings ahmed773. Great writing. Many of us who make life in Steemit are people who prefer quiet, calm and uncrowded environments, instead of noisy and crowded spaces, where you can't even hear your own thoughts. For a writer tranquility is fundamental, well at least for me it is. Silence allows me to do my introspection process, concentrate better and develop my ideas better.
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful comment. I completely agree with you — tranquility and silence are essential for deep thinking and creativity. As writers, we often need that calm environment to connect with our inner voice and let our thoughts flow freely. I'm really glad to know that we share this perspective. Wishing you continued inspiration and peaceful moments for your writing journey!
Welcome to Dream Steem!
Noises do not necessarily mean pollution. I listen to music often and a lot, but not everywhere, not in every context. In nature, I prefer its sounds—birdsong, rustling leaves, wind... Absolute silence, on the other hand, feels like deprivation. I can tolerate it, but I don't have to like it...
