To be precise and use fewer words is always a difficult task for me, because I’m used to adding tiny details in every sentence I speak. But when it comes to reading, nothing inspires me more than a micro writer. The most powerful text I ever read was from Nahj al-Balagha(arabic version) , it literally blew my mind, and I’d love to quote a tiny piece here.
"The one held back by what he’s done,
No lineage bright can make him run."
Then obviously, there's Ernest Hemingway. But a Pakistani writer like Manto, with his sharp, critical stance that makes society uncomfortable with its own centuries-old preachings and taboos, is always worth reading. Mubashir Zaidi also wrote a series of 100-word stories in one of Pakistan’s major newspapers.
But I think, @joslud, your challenge is a bit more challenging—because the word count is just 50!
I tried it... but it didn’t feel perfect.
Still, it was fun to create something within that limit, like counting life lines.

Like a parrot in the cage, that sure gets to me because most of us are gradually becoming slaves to our phones. This was a beautiful read.
Thank you.
Yeah, these demons entered our lives like they were always there… almost impossible to get rid of.

I was still waiting for the other entries...: You top them all! Each of your adverts sounds melancholy, resigned. And at the same time you can take it with gallows humour. I admire that.

I'll definitely check it out....🙃
Thank you for opening the community to these experiments. 🙏
📝 mehwish-almas: She brings us the resource of using similes, taking them to such an extreme that it's impossible not to identify with the caged bird that doesn't want to be free. I made the second one my own; in it, you manage to connect with the soul. Your endings remind me of my style, somewhat rough, perhaps too direct, and which seems to contradict the beautiful language bordering on poetry at the beginning.
She quotes Nahj al-Balagha (Arabic version): "He who is stopped by what he has done, no brilliant lineage can make him flee." 🙏

Deeply obliged, Joslud... and I'm thrilled to know that you find a resemblance between your style and mine. I'm truly honored. 🤍
