"Through His Eyes"

If I were a man,
I would wake to the dawn with the world already expecting
strength in my bones,
certainty in my voice,
and a map to life’s answers folded neatly in my pocket.

I would walk the streets without glancing back,
my shadow unafraid of the night.
But in exchange,
the world would hand me the heavy armor of “protector”
and ask me to wear it,
even on days my heart trembled like a leaf in the wind.

If I were a man,
my worth might be counted in coins and titles,
in how tall I stood when the storms came.
I might hide my tears in the corners of quiet rooms,
swallowing them like bitter medicine,
because the world prefers men
who never taste their own sadness.

They might call me leader,
provider,
pillar
but forget I am also flesh,
and even pillars crack when the weight is too much.

If I were a man,
I would try to be more than the mold.
I would speak for the voices
that history has tried to hush,
I would raise sons who know
that gentleness is not a weakness
and daughters who know
that their dreams have no ceilings.

I would take my brothers by the hand,
tell them they are allowed to feel,
to break,
to rebuild.
I would learn that strength is not
how tightly you clench your fist,
but how willingly you open it.

Yet I know—
being a man is no easy script.
Freedom in some lines,
chains in others.
A different set of storms to stand in,
a different sky to measure yourself against.

If I were a man,
I would still be what I hope to be now,
human before anything else.
A man who listens,
who nurtures,
who stands tall not because he is told to,
but because it feels right.

If I were a man,
I would carry my heart openly
and hope the world could learn
that to be “man enough”
is simply to be
enough.

Beautiful, very beautiful, so much so that it is even unexpected to read about gender equality, which at times I have seen how it sometimes turns into fanaticism.... Do not be surprised if someone appears there making criticisms in that sense. But beware, nothing, absolutely nothing is capable of overshadowing the brilliance and merit of the message behind your words.

Sometimes, the same environment is the one that leads an individual to hide behind a shield, a mask, with which he must pretend to be the toughest of the tough. Everyone has their own feelings and some do not find the way to express them in the right way, maybe because of the way they were taught from childhood.

When I was a child, I heard it said that men don't cry? A simple phrase, but one that contains a very harsh ideology behind it, one that makes anyone become so harsh (only outwardly) that it seems they have no feelings.... Fortunately, an ideology that I do not share and do not teach to my children.

It was a pleasure.

Unfortunately, men has being seen as the breadwinner, the problem solver, the head and the toughest in the family so they don't cry or have feelings.

Any man seen crying is regarded a baby amd so is not worthy to be called a man. But after some thoughts, I said to myself, "what if I were a man"

The men pretend to be strong outside while inside, they cry out their eyes, I just feel they should express their emotions without pride or ego.

Beautiful, my friend. I've read it twice, and it moves me and speaks to me both in my role as a man and equally to the wise and courageous women I know.
Thank you. 🙏🙏

I appreciate your response. I am glad you caught something!

May I ask you if you would rather be a man? For my part, I am very, very happy to be a woman (who prefers to do men's things ;-)))

Hahahaha no, I love being a woman. But I have watched some women treat men like they were useless, like they were not human, like they operate with energy booster and not blood.

It feels so bad to see people called head of the family being treated less, so I thought to myself, "If I were a man", I want to do things differently.

But still, being a woman is the best and a blessing!!!
