Put on the light | keyword of the week

Walking into the workshop with a foodflask, the tall young lady paused by the door post and her lips curled into a disapproving sneer.
With carefulness, she stepped down the few stairs while squinting her eyes in hope of getting a clearer sight.
She could see the person she'd come looking for. Her old man (father) was seated on his working chair in the dark while he worked on some broken gadget; strapped to his forehead was a dimly lit and flickering lamp.
The found the sight exasperating.
Each and every time she comes down here, she's almost always finding him like this.
She trudge down while she trailed her hand on the wall in search of the switch and she found it.
“Put on the light” she said as she put it on, one could almost hear the annoyance in her tone.
“Ah!” The old man finally yelled in suprise; adjusting his eyesight to the now bright room.
“You didn't alert me of your presence” he continued.
“I don't need to. That's not what I'm talking about. Mom and I had talked to you about this countless times. You need to stop working in the dark. For goodness' sake, put on the light” she almost harrumphed.
It was his bad habit. But he calls it his own lifestyle.
The old man would always prefer doing his job in with the light off. He prefers his source of light from his dim torch instead. But this was bad.
If she may say, it was unhealthy.
It has made she and her mom unnecessary nagging creatures.
“I want it this way.” Came his usual reply. “Please switch it off on your way”
“As if”. With that, the annoyed daughter dropped his food flask and left.
It was evening, the old man was done for the day and he would like to rinse his face with cool water.
He gently paddled his way around his dark, unlit workshop. It has been his for years, of course he knows his way around in here like the back of his hand.
He made his way around where the jars were. Using the bailer, he scooped from a jar and washed his face. He did so thoroughly and repeatedly.
Few seconds passed before a frown etched upon his face.
That smell…
That sting…
The realization of washing his face with ammonia instead of water dawned on him.
Before he knew it. He was already bellowing for help atop his lungs.
Thank goodness, the man was able to get help and was rushed to the hospital.
He laid on the bed as he could feel the sting and soreness around his eyes. He could hear the doctor addressing his wife and daughter too.
“Put on the light” he quietly demanded.
“The light is on” came a reply from his wife filled with angst and melancholy.
She has a lot to say but she had no strength for now.
“What do you mean??” The man asked as he panicked.
“I'm sorry sir. The chemical got into your eyes and has messed with some optical nerves which has rendered you blind. You got here too late, otherwise, the effect might have been minimized.”
With that the doctor walked away and the room was filled with heavy silence…
An accident that should not have happened if only he had listened to his family the many times they told him. Arrogance is never good and can lead us to make serious mistakes.
The story is good, my friend, and it contains a great moral. You forgot to include an image to illustrate the text. I hope you can edit and correct it so that your story does not go unnoticed by some. A good image sometimes works as a hook to attract readers to your publication.
It was a pleasure to read you.

Yh
And the old man seem quite stubborn.
Also, I didn't forget to add the image. Been having this little issue for quite a while of not being able to upload images.
It would adjust itself and I won't stop trying to upload the image.
Thanks for the look out and reading 🤭💐
He was used to seeing in the dark, but he wouldn't do it anymore. It would be his entire life to be subject to total darkness from now on.
It's sad because when an older person is removed from what they like to do, it takes away their life.
That's really sad.
But would the consequence of disobedience pay attention to anyone's age?
Thanks for reading @gertu ✨
To be disobedient the only thing you have to have is a lot of pride, believing that you do everything on your own, very well and you only do what you want. In fact, there is a lot of pride in adolescence and we also find it in many older adults, but it is not exclusive to a certain age.
