A Barrel of Bad Ideas | Arthur Morgan's Untold Adventures, Part 33

I had just finished breakfast at camp when Abigail called out to me. She said Hosea and John were looking for me. They had gone to check the moonshine stash I knew about and were supposed to visit the Braithwaite place but Dutch needed John for something else, so Hosea wanted me to take his place.
I found them not far from camp. Hosea was by the wagon and John was helping him load crates of moonshine. When I asked what they were up to, Hosea said he was selling it back to the Braithwaites. He figured if they made it, they already had buyers, and we might as well cut ourselves in. John finished his part and left for his job, leaving me and Hosea to make the delivery.
On the way, Hosea reminded me this was the same liquor we had taken after blowing up their still. He said it was only right to return it, with the hope of getting rewarded. Plus, Dutch also wanted us to make a proper introduction. Then Hosea started talking about how the Braithwaites and Grays hated each other so much they could not see straight.
I told him I knew a little about that. A Gray boy and a Braithwaite girl were sneaking around together, and I had been helping them with their love letters. Hosea thought there might be profit for us in their feud if we could wedge ourselves into it.

At the mansion, Hosea talked the guards into letting us meet Catherine Braithwaite. She claimed the liquor was hers and did not like that we had it, but Hosea talked her into paying us. Then she offered extra money if we delivered it to Rhodes and gave it away for free at the saloon run by Mr. Gray. She called it a promotional expense, but it was clearly meant to stir trouble given the history between Grays and Braithwaites.
When we reached Rhodes, Hosea decided we would put on a show. He introduced himself as Melvin and me as his mute, slow-witted brother Fenton. My job was to keep quiet and pour drinks while he worked the room. The saloon filled quickly. Everyone was laughing and drinking as fast as I could pour.
Then the Lemoyne Raiders walked in. They said the liquor was theirs and accused us of stealing it. Hosea tried to talk them down, but they were not in the mood. One of them made a move and I drew my gun. The place exploded into gunfire.

I dropped several of them and we fought our way to the wagon. We raced through town with the Raiders chasing us. I kept firing, taking them down one by one until we left them behind.
Once we were clear, Hosea said it was probably not a setup. Just local militia angry about competition. He planned to take some of the liquor back to Mrs. Braithwaite as a peace offering and I headed back to camp.
Dutch was there waiting. He asked what I thought of the people in these parts. I told him sarcastically that they were real nice.
Dutch’s plan was to make both families believe we were on their side, then rob them both before they realized it was us. He figured they would kill each other anyway. I cannot say I liked the idea, but Dutch was sure of it. He always is.

Disclaimer
Arthur Morgan and the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 might be fictional creations by Rockstar Games, but my love for this game? 100% real. This is a new kind of adventure I wanted to bring to Steemit. I’m narrating the story of RDR2 from the perspective of its protagonist, Arthur Morgan, offering a fresh and immersive take on his journey. Rather than directly copying the game’s dialogues, I’m weaving Arthur’s emotions and experiences into a creative and fictional retelling. You can also experience this story in a cinematic way. I play the game, record my gameplay, edit the footage in the best possible way, and upload it to my YouTube channel. This way, after reading each story episode, you can watch it unfold like a movie.

Thank you @sduttaskitchen. Much appreciated!
¡Holaaa amigo!🤗
Pero que malvado resultó ser ese Dutch vale y, más allá de la ficción, en el contexto real siempre nos vamos a topar con una persona como él. Por ello, hay que estar atentos.
Te envío un fuerte abrazo💚
