RE: Priceless moments with my mother in the English countryside
Glad you appreciate your mum.
So, remember I said there are houses for 1 Euro?
Here is one of the sites showing you where and how to buy (get one for your mum also?)
Excellent! I had a look.
Only trouble is that they are all very much on the beaten track. Hence the requirement for renovation. If I could buy out the whole village and fill it up with like-minded folk this might be a solution!
I will be prepared to move if we have to, but would like to remain static as long as possible. And I think for this reason, in the end, seclusion trumps everything else.
I would have thought that closed down train stations tend to be off the beaten track.
Anyway, this was offered more in the spirit of making available to you as many possibilities as possible, so that you have more to choose from. For instance, what is offered in Italy is also offered in the UK and many other countries. For myself, I loved an island property in the Adriatic which used to hold mental patients/prisoners. It is a beautiful property, with trees and huge rocks etc.
Nobody wants it because they say it has ghosts. I suppose the idea of being on an island with 'mental' ghosts who also have a grievance ...could be scary :)
