[EP123] - Success with athletic conditioning for injuries
Hi everyone!
Hope you're all well!
I've been working for weeks on conditioning my calves and Achilles so that I can run without pain. It's such a weird situation.... you have to run with pain... for weeks... until your body gets tough enough to not feel any pain. Consistency is absolutely key here.
There are moments when you really do think you're absolutely doing the wrong thing, pain shouldn't fix pain... but honestly, I've tried everything, and for overuse injuries rest just doesn't seem to work. With overuse injuries, you can rest for ages... years even, and as soon as you attempt that exercise again you'll feel the exact same pain you were already feeling.
Obviously I'm not saying you should run on a sprained or broken ankle... but if you have any of the tendonitis type injuries then you'll need to very carefully push the boundaries of that pain. Start with exercising in a way that doesn't cause any pain at all... and then over time push that so that it only causes a bit of pain... and keep doing that until the pain recedes, and then push it again.
It's not fun, but it's the only way through... make sure you don't stop or take a break though, because then you'll likely be back at the start... Overuse injuries really are the worst, please try and avoid them as much as possible.
Thanks for watching!
