RE: [EP138] - Find your tribe!

C. S. Lewis wrote The Abolition of Man. He discusses the modern move away from culture, tradition, and customs. In classical education you were expected to take stock of yourself and figure out where your place in society was. You were expected to mold yourself to the man who would do the most good for your community, in your own fashion.

Modern tendencies are to shape the world to your wants and ideas. Through government, modern man forces society to conform to his ideas of justice and morality. It emphasizes standardization and conformity such that culture, traditions, and customs are antiquated ideas.

Ah, this might be the most intelligent comment I've ever received.

I agree... in times past it was very obvious what your place was and what your contribution to your local society was. In the industrial revolution, it was less clear... you were in a factory, making a thing... for whom? Now it's so much less clear... you're contributing to 'something'.
