I need Tim Hortins every time I leave my front door.. and sometimes before I come back. I will try to tell you why I think we do this. Ok so one reason is we are cold for most of the year and getting a nice soothing hot coffee or tea is so fitting in the cold air.. but then of course it goes deeper than that.. Tim Hortins is steeped at least for me in Canadian tradition. I can remember going there as a little girl.. and then with my friends as a teenager.. then as a young adult.. as a new Mother.. they have woven their brand into the fabric of Canadian society I think. They really have a lot of great initiatives such as the Tim Bits soccer leagues for little ones, the camps, the charities, the smile cookies.. and who can forget all of the delish donuts, cookies, drinks, and more! Maybe they have us all just a tad addicted to their style of goodness.. and there is something so satisfying about being handed that nice refreshing ice cap!

Then again I have noticed some Starbucks popping up and Ava has dragged me in there. I must say the service is much better at Starbucks and the workers seem way more friendly in there.

I think the lack of service at Tim Hortins comes from underappreciated workers. They need to treat the staff much nicer at Tim's I have heard some horror stories on that front.

Having said that I live right beside the first ever Tim's! I am in Stoney Creek but the first Tim's is in Hamilton right next to me! Here is a photo :D

Of course Timmy's was founded by a hockey player and I think that too makes us all feel warm fuzzy Canadian feelings. Starbucks may have wonderful service but I do not think they understand Canadians as a people.
