The increasing 'dependency ratio' really is the elephant in the room.
Here in the UK the BBC recently proposed making over 75s pay for their currently free TV licences (it's about $200 a year per household).
Massive backlash to that.
You can just imagine how unreceptive people are going to be to the idea that we can't afford their pensions if we kick up such a fuss about TV licences.
