I also meditate for over a year now and I wouldn't ever stop doing it. I started doing it because I was really anxious and I always stressed about everything. I simply wasn't happy to live.
As time passed, meditation has had many benefits for me. The spirituality part is amazing. It feels like I'm more connected to the nature and I always want to get out into a forest or something.
I also became very aware of my emotions and I'm sorta able to control them. I rarely stress about anything and I'm always calm. I manage to control myself in most situations.
But there are indeed some side effects like you've said. While I became a much happier person because of meditation, sometimes there are days where I feel like I have no purpose, like something is missing in my life.
It's hard to explain this feeling but it feels like I'm an empty shell sometimes. I get kinda depressed for a day and it feels really bad.
But other than that, my lifestyle quality is much better than before I started meditating!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm always interested about the effects other people feel from meditation!
