The 5 best games that may surprise you this year
2025 is shaping up to be an impressive year for video games, with titles that promise to redefine the industry. In this video, we present the 15 most ambitious games that will amaze everyone.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Doom: The Dark Ages. The Doom franchise has been on a winning streak with its latest installments, and Doom: The Dark Ages is poised to be another hit. The latest games in the series feature fast-paced, bullet-heavy combat in a first-person shooter format that provides a real challenge for players. Doom: The Dark Ages will serve as a prequel to 2016's Doom, exploring the rise of the Doom Slyer in a darker, more fantasy-inspired setting, judging by the trailers. Doom: The Dark Ages draws inspiration from the fantasy genre while still immersing players in a familiar hellish atmosphere. Fans were stunned when they saw the Doom Slider battle a gigantic kaiju-like demon in a massive mech suit, and even more so when it took to the skies on the back of a Doom Dragon. The Dark Age seems to bring some new and crazy ideas to the franchise. This game will be released on May 15, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
Borderlands 4
At number four, Borderlands 4. Although there are still doubts about the long-term viability of the Borderlands franchise, the truth is that there are still many die-hard fans eager to get their hands on the imminent fourth game. Although Gebox has promised that Borderlands 4 will have less filthy humor than its direct predecessor, it's reasonable to expect that everything will remain the same. For the most part, that is, cartoonish open-world FPS chaos accompanied by bold and straightforward comedy. Fortunately, the sequel will move away from Pandora and be set on the new planet Kairos, which you can explore with up to three players while facing complex faction conflicts. It remains to be seen whether Borderlands 4 will be able to sufficiently rejuvenate the IP after some serious missteps in recent years, but let's hope so. Borderlands 4 will be released on September 12, 2025.
Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6)
At number three, Grand DeAuto 6 is without a doubt the most anticipated multimedia game, scheduled for release in 2025. And while it wouldn't surprise anyone if they ended up postponing them, Rockstar's track record speaks for itself, and although it takes a very long time to release games, even by modern game development standards, the meticulous end result always explains why, assuming it reaches its 2025 release date, no other game will be more talked about.
Crimson Desert
At number two, Crimson Desert. This is an action RPG from PR Avis, creator of Black Desert Online. Unlike the latter, an MMORPG, the proposed spinoff will revolve around a single-player experience and take place in the same universe: a medieval fantasy realm ravaged by war where loyalties are tested and heroes are forged. In the new IP, players will be invited to explore an open-world landscape mired in eternal wars and calamities. As a Mercenary, you will experience the untold and learn to survive the endearing horrors and tribulations of pwel, whether by grouping together or venturing out for generations to come. Its release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X is planned for late 2025.
Tides of Annihilation
Tides of Annihilation is number one. Set in London, this action-horror title stars Wendolin, played by Jennifer English, famous for Baldur Gay 3, who fights against an invading force. To do so, she will command the order of King Arthur's Knights. Or at least spectral versions of them. Each has unique abilities, and you can create some powerful combos. The other big part of the experience is the colossal knights you'll have to fight against. This is easier said than done, since you'll have to climb their structures and investigate their depths. Tides of Annihilation is coming to Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC and is expected to be released in late 2025.
Guys, that's all for today. Leave a comment letting us know which of the games mentioned in this list is your favorite.
