So glad you enjoyed this post @janton Yes, I think horses are worked very hard at times and must have amazing strength when I think of the tasks that were expected of them. I had to laugh when I read that line too. How times have changed! 😊
Howdy again trudeehunter! When I read historical information I always come away being grateful for our modern conveniences and luxuries. Horses are awesome and the big Belgium style work horses are incredibly awesome!
Very true Janton.....but these trade offs have come at a big price to our health unfortunately, with pollution, congestion....... and let's not forget road rage! I don't think I have read of drivers or passengers of this era getting off or on their 'high horses' when having to dodge unpleasant deposits left by the work horse, or having to pull in the reigns suddenly when obstacles appeared en route. 😁
