The Openng Salvo Of Our WeekLong Salakayan Festival
Today was the opening salvo of our festival. Early this morning they started out with drums and lyres on a truck playing going arounf the town at 4 am. They call it “papukaw” or awakening.
This afternoon was the parade. Of some schools and barangay officials and the contesting tribes had their prejudging. Here are some pictures I took during the parade.

It was a colourful and noisy parade. So many people came out of theiruses tonwach. I am lucky because t seright in front of my house.
This is just the preliminary the highlights will be in Feb. 9 and Feb 10 the coronatition of the Queen of Miagao.
A week long affair filled wittyh lots activities.
