"MORDECAI THE JEW BECAME THE PRIME MINISTER, WITH AUTHORITY NEXT TO THAT OF KING XERXES HIMSELF. He was very great among the Jews, who held him in high esteem, because he continued to work for the good of his people and to speak up for the welfare of all their descendants."
Esther 10:3 (NLT)

"THAT NIGHT THE KING COULD NOT SLEEP. So one was commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king."
Esther 6:1 (NLT)

• A believer who would be lifted or promoted might face challenges and oppositions on his or her way to the top.

  • Mordecai eventually became second in command to the king, in a strange land (Esther 10:3). His journey to the position was not an easy one, but following God's plan for him, he was able to get to the crest—the top.
  • The foundation of Mordecai's lifting is that he did not bow or compromise his stand in God.
  • Haman who was one of the top executives in king Ahaszuerus' government picked on Mordecai to subject and get rid of him and his people—the Jews (Esther 3:6).
  • However, the evil plans or plots of Haman was made to backfire or boomerang; had the reverse of the desired or expected result or effect.
The same gallows which Haman had the plan to hang Mordecai on, had him hanged on It (Esther 7:9,10).
  • If a Believer is standing on the truth, not willing to compromise his or her faith, God will see to it that such is not a victim of wicked plots of Men—he or she will not die cheaply.

• What would make God fight on your behalf as a believer is when you are walking in the light of His Word. If you lived in line with God's Word, His eyes would be on you for good. Defending and fighting your cause even when you did not know.

  • What helped Mordecai is that he kept to the principles of God's law or Word. He did not allow sentiment or be swayed by other people's opinions—even in a strange land (Esther 3:1-5).
  • The elect who lived in honour of God's Word in his or her life would not be allowed to suffer a shameful death.
  • The point is:
11 THIS IS A FAITHFUL SAYING: IF WE DIED WITH HIM, WE SHALL ALSO LIVE WITH HIM. 12 IF WE ENDURE, WE SHALL ALSO REIGN WITH HIM. IF WE DENY HIM, HE ALSO WILL DENY US. IF WE ARE FAITHLESS, HE REMAINS FAITHFUL; HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF" (2 Timothy 2:11-13 NKJV).
  • Just because Mordecai honoured God by not compromising his stand or faith according to God's law that homage or worship should only be given to God, and not to any person. Haman did want homage but Mordecai did not give it to him (Esther 3:2).

• Another point is, your good deeds will speak for you in the day of calamity.

  • When Haman was in the pursuit of Mordecai, to destroy him and the entire Jewish race, God caused the King, Ahaszuerus, to be restless and sleepless in order to get his attention and cause him to reward Mordecai for his good deeds in the past (Esther 6:1-3).
  • Some have thought in our contemporary time that doing good does not pay, It is not rewarding. But that notion is far from the truth. The good you did would later pay off for you: "KNOWING THAT WHATEVER GOOD ANYONE DOES, HE WILL RECEIVE THE SAME FROM THE LORD, WHETHER HE IS A SLAVE OR FREE" (Ephesians 6:8 NKJV).
  • The truth of this Bible passage is, you would be rewarded by God, and not man, thus, It cannot be preempted or hindered or prevented from happening.
  • Also, regardless of the person's status; slave or free, the reward would be given. Mordecai was in a strange land but that did not prevent the move of God in his life, because he stood for the cause of God.
  • He did not deny God, thus, at the time of predicament God was there for him (2 Timothy 2:12). If you are in Rome do not behave like Romans, as is popularly said. It is also commonly said that If you cannot beat them join them, but a believer should never joined people to do evil. Rather, as a believer, endeavour to beat them, do not join the unbelievers in doing wrong, in doing things that are contrary to the Word of God—the Bible.

• God has the heart of all men in His hand, even the kings, and He directs it like a flowing river: THE KING'S HEART IS IN THE HAND OF THE LORD, LIKE THE RIVERS OF WATER; HE TURNS IT WHEREVER HE WISHES" (Proverbs 21:1 NKJV).

  • God did move King Ahaszuerus to honour Mordecai (Esther 6:1-11). And He did it in a way to humiliate Haman the enemy of the Jews—the man who plotted or planned to annihilate the Jews (Esther 6:13).
  • Note: If God is fighting for you, He would go beyond your imagination. This is why He said: "BELOVED, DO NOT AVENGE YOURSELF, BUT RATHER GIVE PLACE TO [God's] WRATH; FOR IT IS WRITTEN, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," SAYS THE LORD" (Romans 12:19 NKJV).
  • Jesus Christ in His teaching, sermon on the mount, says:
39 BUT I [Jesus] TELL YOU NOT TO RESIST AN EVIL PERSON. BUT WHOEVER SLAPS YOU ON YOUR RIGHT CHEEK, TURN THE OTHER TO HIM ALSO. 40 IF ANYONE WANTS TO SUE YOU AND TAKE AWAY YOUR TUNIC, LET HIM HAVE YOUR CLOAK ALSO. 41 AND WHOEVER COMPELS YOU TO GO ONE MILE, GO WITH HIM TWO. 42 GIVE TO HIM WHO ASKS YOU, AND FROM HIM WHO WANTS TO BORROW FROM YOU DO NOT TURN AWAY" (Matthew 5:39-42 NKJV).
  • If you did focus on serving God, that is, serving His interest, and living right; He cannot but defend you when opposition arose. Either in your place of work, in the neighborhood you live, or in the ministry, especially among the subordinates, or wherever.

• You will not fail in Jesus' name.

  • Should there be any ailment in your body, receive your healing now in Jesus' name.
  • That which God has not planted in your body that is working against your health is rebuked and uprooted completely in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
    Peace!
