1 NOW WHEN THE PEOPLE COMPLAINED, IT DISPLEASED THE LORD; FOR THE LORD HEARD IT, AND HIS ANGER WAS AROUSED. SO THE FIRE OF THE LORD BURNED AMONG THEM, AND CONSUMED SOME IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CAMP.
2 THEN THE PEOPLE CRIED OUT TO MOSES, and when Moses prayed to the Lord, the fire was quenched.
3 So he called the name of the place Taberah, because the fire of the Lord had burned among them.
4 NOW THE MIXED MULTITUDE WHO WERE AMONG THEM YIELDED TO INTENSE CRAVING; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “WHO WILL GIVE US MEAT TO EAT?
5 WE REMEMBER THE FISH WHICH WE ATE FREELY IN EGYPT, THE CUCUMBERS, THE MELONS, THE LEEKS, THE ONIONS, AND THE GARLIC;
6 but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!” "
Numbers 11:1-6 (NKJV)

A believer who walks in faith is not impatient. Such a believer would understand that God works progressively and systematically. Such a believer would not be agitative or unnecessarily be in a hurry or anxious. Such would know that the Scripture says: "BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION, WITH THANKSGIVING, LET YOUR REQUESTS BE MADE KNOWN TO GOD" (Philippians 4:6 NKJV).

Other translations:
"DO NOT BE ANXIOUS ABOUT ANYTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND PLEADING WITH THANKSGIVING LET YOUR REQUESTS BE MADE KNOWN TO GOD."
Philippians 4:6 (New American Standard Bible)

"BE YE NOTHING BUSY [Be nothing busy], BUT IN ALL PRAYER AND BESEECHING, WITH DOING OF THANKINGS, BE YOUR ASKINGS KNOWN AT GOD."
Philippians 4:6 (Wycliffe Bible)

The word supplication in the Scripture quoted in the New King James' version means pleading or beseeching or earnest request or petition or crying or imploring or entreating. It is through this means of supplication or pleading that things can be gotten from God.

Whoever quitted from praying or following God, did, because of anxiety. Such is thinking or saying that his or her request is not granted at the time they expected.
You should know that you have to wait on God, supplicating until the request is granted, not being in a hurry and agitative and quit.

The areas you should take notice of are the anxiety, the pleading or beseeching aspects.
a. If you are anxious, the request would not be granted. You would have to wait until your agitation is subdued or taken care of. Agitation is a sign that you are not mature enough to handle whatever you are asking for.
b. Supplication or pleading or beseeching or entreating or petitioning is what many believers have misinterpreted and misconstrued in the name of faith teaching.
Someone who understands faith is not anxious. The kind of faith some are teaching is a fire-brigade type of faith and at the end If they could not get what they are requesting for they would say the teaching of faith does not work or produce results.

Note:
a. Faith is not agitative (Matthew 6:25).
b. Faith is not in a hurry or anxious (Philippians 4:6).
c. Faith is patient and It endures (James 1:3,4).

Many could not receive what they are asking from God because of impatient and unbelief or lack of faith (Hebrews 3:19). If the heroes of faith shared in the Book of Hebrews 11 are carefully studied, they were not the people in a hurry, not impatient, and agitated not. And also they were not the people who could not endure (Hebrews 11:4-39).
In fact, a number of them, If not all, could not get all the promises but they were relentless in their faith till the end: "THESE ALL DIED IN FAITH, NOT HAVING RECEIVED THE PROMISES, BUT HAVING SEEN THEM AFAR OFF WERE ASSURED OF THEM, EMBRACED THEM AND CONFESSED THAT THEY WERE STRANGERS AND PILGRIMS ON THE EARTH" (Hebrews 11:13 NKJV).

In another part of the chapter:
"AND ALL OF THESE, THOUGH THEY GAINED [divine] APPROVAL THROUGH THEIR FAITH, DID NOT RECEIVE [the fulfillment of] WHAT WAS PROMISED [message promise]" (Hebrews 11:39 Amps).

Walking with God takes a lot of patience, being painstaking, and a lot of supplications in prayer with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6). This persistent supplication or pleading or beseeching is what many believers could not do, thus, they were no longer there when God came looking for them to answer their prayers. The supplication or pleading or beseeching had to be protracted or importuned—you kept requesting or begging or urging or soliciting persistently (Luke 11:5-10; 18:1-8).

You do not receive something from God through five minutes prayer. You should learn and cultivate the habit of tarrying, protracting or staying in the presence of God extendedly. Stop approaching the matters of your life with fire-brigade prayer. Fire-brigade prayer is a type of prayer which believers pray when they are desperate and are in an urgent need. But such desperate believers are usually those who hardly pray when they do not have any urgent need. That is, they only pray when they are in a distressful situation or circumstance.

The admonition to you today is; you should endeavour to move up in your relationship with God in which prayer is made to be part of your life. That is, prayer is made an integral part of your life, you commune with God throughout the day as you go about your daily activities, that is, you are conscious of God's presence with you throughout the day and in all you do.

In conclusion, do not allow anyone to distract your faith and take you away from the path which God has set your feet. Allow God's dealings to be thorough and perfect in your life, If you are presently in one wilderness or another. Be patient to learn whatever you are being taught at the phase or level or stage that you are currently or presently:
3 KNOWING THAT THE TESTING OF YOUR FAITH PRODUCES PATIENCE. 4 BUT LET PATIENCE HAVE ITS PERFECT WORK, THAT YOU MAY BE PERFECT AND COMPLETE, LACKING NOTHING" (James 1:3,4 NKJV).

In other translations:
3 FOR YOU KNOW THAT WHEN YOUR FAITH IS TESTED, YOUR ENDURANCE HAS A CHANCE TO GROW.
4 SO LET IT GROW, FOR WHEN YOUR ENDURANCE IS FULLY DEVELOPED, YOU WILL BE PERFECT AND COMPLETE, NEEDING NOTHING.
James 1:3,4 (NLT)

3 BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT THESE TROUBLES TEST YOUR FAITH, AND THIS WILL GIVE YOU PATIENCE.
4 LET YOUR PATIENCE SHOW ITSELF PERFECTLY IN WHAT YOU DO. THEN YOU WILL BE PERFECT AND COMPLETE AND WILL HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED."
James 1:3,4 (New Century Version)

You will not fail in Jesus' name. Peace.
