WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HOUSE?
"THEN HE SAID, “GO, BORROW VESSELS FROM EVERYWHERE, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few."
2 Kings 4:3 (NKJV)
In most cases when you are in dire straits, a serious need or acute difficulty, what you need to bail you out is always what you already have but would not know or recognize that the thing is for your breakthrough.
Elisha asked the widow of the prophet that what does she has in her house (2 Kings 4:2).
No matter how down you are, you would have one thing or another that could be breathed on and be used to deliver you from any problem.
What would be used could be something that you have but looks insignificant.
Also, the idea of what to do for you to experience a change might have been given to you, but you may have not given it a thought or consideration.
At times, for you to locate what God would use for your liberation, you may need a prophetic unction, for your understanding to be opened and see the thing.
Your word of liberation could be in the mouth of a minister. This is why a believer should be where he or she is planted by God. If you are in the right gathering of believers, where you are planted by God, a Word in season would be sent to you through your leader, prophet or pastor, that would be for your liberation.
The minister who oversees your life, or pastors you, might not have the appellation or title of prophet, but whatever the appellation or title; since he is a minister of God, the right word in season for your liberation would be sent to you through him.
At times all you need for a solution to the problem at hand could just be a counsel from your prophet or pastor.
Through the counsel your understanding would be opened and you would be able to know what you needed to do for your breakthrough.
The simple counsel from Elisha to the widow of the prophet; asking her about what she did have at home and she responded that she had a jar of oil (2 Kings 4:2).
The next thing was that Elisha told her to go and borrow empty jars, then she should start pouring the oil in the jars, and the next was that she should go and sell the oil and clear her debts and live on the remaining money (2 Kings 4:2-6).
Elisha did not actually pray with her, It was just a counsel, telling her what she should do to get out of the indebtedness.
At times you may need to share your burden with whoever is taking spiritual oversight of your life, a counsel from such a person could proffer the needed solution to the problem or predicament you have been grappling with.
The problem you cannot handle alone, tell it to whoever you are relating with—one who oversees your life (1 Thessalonians 5:12; Hebrews 13:7,17).
One of the essences or reasons for coming to Christ Jesus is to be able to relate with Him and be liberated from whatever the yoke of the enemy is—He says: "COME TO ME, ALL YOU WHO LABOUR AND ARE HEAVY LADEN, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST" (Matthew 11:28 NKJV).
This same Jesus appointed His delegates to watch over His fold, the people who are His (John 21:15-17; 1 Peter 5:2).
The problem that cannot be handled alone by anyone in the fold should be shared with the shepherd.
The way out of whatever predicament—a difficult, puzzling, or embarrassing situation from which there is no easy escape:
• Make God number one in your life, go to Him first in prayer whenever you are confronted with a problem (John 16:23,24).
• Acknowledge the problem and be willing to come out of it (Matthew 9:29).
• Know and do have the conviction that there is a solution to whatever you are passing through—nothing is too difficult for God to do (Matthew 19:26; 1 Corinthians 10:13).
• If the problem or challenges you are facing is overwhelming, speak out and ask for help; you may not be able to fight the battles of life alone.
• Embrace whatever pattern that may be adopted by God to solve the problem—do not argue with Him. The widow of the prophet could have thought that the instructions given to her by Elisha would not work and started arguing with him.
• Endeavour to have a pastor or prophet over your life—someone who takes the spiritual oversight of your life (Jeremiah 3:15).
• Your word is in the mouth of your pastor or prophet or whoever is taking oversight of your life, do not despise the person or what he told you (Hosea 12:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:12).
Note—exceptional cases:
Some people are found in a system that does not support or agree completely with what is shared here. They attend denominational churches where having one on one counseling or talk with the priest or whoever is overseeing them is not usual.
Some of such people usually go about looking for the ministers who could fill that vacuum in their lives, one who could do the pastoral work of counselling and ministering to their needs with the power of the Holy Spirit.
In the realm of the spirit, God has assigned ministers to oversee the affairs of each of His children (Hebrews 13:17).
The minister who is brought your way through a divine arrangement and spoke to your life or ministered to you and things changed for good in your life; such a person is your assigned pastor or prophet or the one to take a spiritual oversight of your life—even though you are still attending a denominational church because of tradition.
If you despised such agent of God or the delegated authority brought your way, you may stay long in the predicament (Hosea 12:13).
If you also despise the words of such appointed agent of God or the delegated authority sent your way, you might see yourself going round in a cycle in whatever you are doing.
Thus, If your contact or interaction with a minister has brought a change in your life and what you are doing, endeavour to keep and honour the relationship.
You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace.
