Holiday day 3 – Sunshine, smiles… and total exhaustion!
Day three in Sunny Beach and it’s starting to feel like we’re stuck in some sort of sun-soaked loop – one filled with relentless energy (from the kids), perfect weather (for sunburn), and very little rest (for us adults). The sun blazed down from a cloudless sky again today, and once more, we found ourselves parked poolside from breakfast until sunset.
The kids must be solar powered because they didn’t stop for a second. In and out of the water, running, playing, splashing, giggling – it was like watching two joyful whirlwinds on a sugar rush. Meanwhile, Mrs Welshstacker and I clung to our loungers, sunglasses on, drinks in hand, muttering things like, “Is it bedtime yet?” and “Why didn’t we bring grandparents with us?”
By the evening, we were both totally done in – physically and mentally. As the kids danced into the night (again), we exchanged that tired-parent look across the table. You know the one: “We love them… but we are so shattered.” Truthfully, we might need a quiet little break after this “break” just to recover! But even through the exhaustion, we’re making memories – and that’s what it’s all about. On to day four... if we survive it!
