The noni (morinda citrifolia), also known as the devil's fruit, Indian dewberry or guanabana cimarrona, is a plant native to Southeast Asia, its fruit is considered sacred due to its excellent energy and medicinal properties. This fruit has a large amount of vitamins such as: Vitamins of group B (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12), C, E, folic acid and minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron and phosphorus. Noni is an unattractive fruit because its taste is bitter and its smell is very unfriendly, however the large amount of vitamins and minerals it has, provide great health benefits so it is worth consume it.
This plant grows freely in well-drained soils, tolerates salinity and drought; It is very common to find semi-enclosed forests, volcanic soils, rocky outcrops and even sandy coasts. Panama is one of the countries with the most noni plants, specifically in the provinces of Bocas del Toro, San Blas and Colon.
