Happy Dhanteras to the Indian Community
I basically call this a day of buying gold. Since past many years I have been in this habit of buying gold on this day, then it can be as little as 1 gram also. It's a way of saving for me.
Dhanteras is a day which is celebrated to honor Lord Dhanvantari for health and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth. It is believed that on this day Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the ocean with a pot of immortal nectar which signifies abundance of health and on the same day Goddess Lakshmi also appeared so in honor of both of these divinities Dhanteras is celebrated, and since it is considered to be a day of good luck and good fortune, we believe in buying something new and it will bring abundance in to our lives. I believe in buying gold and a lot of Indians do. We do rituals to put in lot of positive energy into whatever we have bought so that it multiplies and brings good fortune for us.
Today morning my friends came over from India, it's a auspicious day and I am happy they are here with me. After finishing our morning chores, I visited the gold shop and completed my rituals there. It always feels very satisfying to me when I do these things. I have still not completed the rituals at home, which I will do it shortly and after that I will be taking my friends out to visit the Aquarium. There are 2 kids and it is a special treat for them. I am sure they are going to enjoy it.
As I always say, this is the best time of the year and especially when you have your loved ones around with you, it becomes all the more special. In a few days it is Diwali and I am so much looking forward to all of these celebrations. As it is the last few days have been heavy with too many bad news back-to-back, so this energy is more than welcome for me.
