"Wordsmiths Fiction Week 2: Season 24 – The Envelope"

Diego's was gripped with fear, his heart beats so fast to the extent you can hear it clearly if you're close to him. With shaky hands, he picked up the Letter. He tried opening it, but what came to his mind was what if it's a Letter bomb? He summoned courage and opened the letter. On opening the Letter, he saw a Phone contact written on it. Diego mind was filled with so many unanswered questions like "What Message is the sender trying to convey?" "Did I do something wrong?" "I'm i about to be killed?" He couldn't just place his hand on what warrants that Letter.
After figuring what to do, he quickly brought out his phone and took a picture of the Letter in case he misplaces the Envelope and he made up his mind to unravel the Mystery. He quickly closed from work and went home. On getting home, he brought out his phone and called the Contact number severally but it wasn't going through. He tried the number through out the day and it still wasn't going through. Diego paced around like an angry Lion. The next day, he waited until it's was 2:17am to see the Mystery man with the rusted Blue Sedan Car but he was nowhere to be found.

Diego stood aside every morning to wait for the man but he didn't show face for a One whole month, and he gave up. One night, at exactly 2:17am, the weird man showed up again and before Diego could brink his eyes, the car drove off. Diego picked up his phone and called the Contact number he saw on the letter and for the first time, it went through but there was no response. After calling severally, he heard a deep voice which said "come to 13 New Haven Street."
He quickly googled for the Location but couldn't find anything meaningful online and he ran out immediately. He travelled down to the City and asked for directions. The more Diego walks the more lonely the path becomes. After trekking for an hour, he finally saw the Street, it has old houses and Diego wondered if Human beings lived there. Finally he saw the House at the end of the Street, 13 New Haven Street was boldly written on it. He knocked on the door and the door was opened. He stepped inside and saw the Weird man that comes to the Gas Station by 2:17am.
Immediately, Diego said "you again!" The man didn't respond, he went inside and brought a picture and gave it to Diego. He looked at the picture and saw the Weird man with his late mom. His mind raced around and he tried to connect the dots but couldn't place it. After a minute of silence, The man gave him another picture, lo and behold, it was a picture of Diego when he was a child. Immediately, he shouted at the man to speak up. The man told Diego that he was his Father. He eyes widened in Shock as he stared at the man. His mind raced around with so many questions. "You're my father, how?

The man slowly muttered yes. After a minute of silence, Diego found his voice again, he asked him why his mother told him that he was dead. The tension in the room was so thick that a Knife could cut through it. The man sighed with eyes filled with pain, he told him how he traveled out for greener pasture. The plan was to bring him and his mom over after he has settled down, but he was caught up with the wrong Company and he was sentenced to Imprisonment.
All this while, he has been serving Jail term and that his mother told him that he was dead because she thought he abandoned them. He went further to tell him that he has been looking for him since he left the prison. Diego's eyes welled up with tears as he didn't know how to react at that point. He told the man that he needed time to process the Information and he left.
