"This is the last time I'll see anyone idle in this workshop".
[He paused , then glanced at Gloria , then continues]
"I thought you came here to learn, get to work my friend."

Mr peter never wanted to see anyone idle in his Electronics repairs workshop. He always wanted everyone to be busy.
And Gloria here, the newest, youngest and only female in the place, has nothing really important to contribute to the daily activities around the workshop, except running errands, watching and learning from others.
So most time ,when she's tired of standing for too long, she would find a place at the corner of the workshop to lay and rest.

" Your friend didn't come today again? It's been weeks"
[Mr Peter asked Gloria and she nodded in response]
David, the most smartest and skilled technician was the closest to Justin. He would show and teach Gloria everything he knew about electronics repairs. Each time he was working, he would make sure Gloria was watching and asking questions.
But this has been 9 weeks since David left for holiday and he hasn't returned. He claimed he wasn't in the right state of mind to return .

"He was handling a research on conversion of plasma tv. And you were following up. Isn't it".
[Mr peter asked Gloria]
"Yes I was " [Gloria replied but with no assurance in his appearance]. Perhaps, she thought he might be asked to give a summary of thier progress.
Not knowing, something worst was coming .

" Go in there, take out the LG tv and continue from where your master stooped"
[Mr peter directed Gloria]
Gloria's face became pale, she had always thought of great ideas. But they were wild. She could cause more damage to the tv. Nothing might be left again to even sale spare parts.

"hahahahaha "
[Edikan and Timothy bursted with laughter.]
Edikan was also a smart and hardworking technician in the workshop , not the smartest. But Mr peter was fun of him.
Since they were related. He valued his presence in the workshop even more the David's.
Timothy was just there, he's been there for 2years and nothing to show . It was as if he was learning the wrong skill.
Mr Peter had complained about his inability to cope . But his parents insisted that he stayed for a little more while.

"Sir, that screen is 300,000 thousand naira. Do you want to lose that amount of money?"

The screen David was working on was that costly, and Edikan was just giving a thoughtful advice.

Mr Peter however, paid deaf ears to what they were saying.
This was the the 5th time a TV with such fault was brought for repairs and they still haven't succeed in finding it's solution.
They could convert any other models of tv using the universal motherboard. But when it came to plasma tv. It wasn't possible for them.
If they could? The world would notice them. Big companies might want to partner with them. Because all over the world, no wan has been able to perform "the magic" as they termed it.

While they were still working, Gloria went in to bring out the tv. It was heavy so she called Timothy to help. They came back with the tv and the tools David left at the table where he used to work.

Mr Peter said he was going out to get food, that he'll be back later in the day.
The work was on progress but the only thing left for them was screen-wire configuration. Unlike other tv , the screen-wire used for the screen display board had signal channel and voltage channels. But the plasma screen display board didn't have voltage channels. So they couldn't use other screen wires to convert it.
The tv had another channel for voltage to get to the screen. And they dare not tamper with it.

It wasn't going to be easy, trail and error Gloria and David had been doing since, before David left. But Gloria wanted to take risks and do something unimaginable. She wanted to tamper with the Surge . The side that feeds voltage to the screen.
She wanted to use the universal screen wires to feed voltage the screen while while feeding signal to the display board as well.

She told Edikan about it. But he said it was too risky for him to accept.
The last time something like that was implemented, they blew up a customer's tv , right in front of the owner.
Edikan didn't want something like that to happen again.

Gloria insisted that it was different. They fed both voltage and signal to the display board . But she was only going to feed the display board with signal.

" You don't have money to pay for damages, do you know that"
[Edikan reminded Gloria]
After thoughtful reasoning, he felt the plan was right and was willing to be part of it.

"If you must do it, you set it up then, I'll couple it and run test."
[He assured Gloria]
"But if anything happens, I'll call your parents. I can't pay for damages alone.
[Edikan pleaded with Gloria]
Edikan had made a lot of money while working for his boss all these years. He had enough to spare. And for that project to work,he was willing to support, if it must work .

Six hours gone by as Gloria was trying to configure the wires.
Timothy unlike other days was willing to help Gloria. Seems everyone was interested in the outcome of this idea.
When Gloria finish setting up the connections, it was time for testing.
Edikan confirmed all the connections and it was set.
Fingers crossed.

"Bring me the extension socket" [ he told Timothy]
"I will plug the tv myself . Whatever happens after that, we can all agree that we've tried our best."

"All these parables are scaring me" [Gloria Said]. But let's blow this up[he continued]*
Edikan plugged in the tv power cable to the extension socket and proceeded to switch it on.
"Biggest Boys!!!!!!"
[A random voice from the street echoed]
Edikan paused,
This sounded familiar to them. Everyone turned to check who it was .
"Ah David , you came?" [Gloria asked with excitement and surprise]

"I got back yesterday, and I thought I should show up today, was planning to resume fully by tomorrow "
[David told his colleagues]

"What's up with my research project "
[He continued]
" Who's handling it?"
"Everyone".
[Gloria answered]

"Can I see what you guys s have done, I saw you were about to plug it Edikan."

"Yeah sure" [Edikan replied him]

"Oh , who did this?, You guys fed Voltage to the surge?.
And the signals where?
[He asked].

Gloria was already thinking David would counter the idea. But he just answered that he was the one.

"It is a really nice idea, it might work."

[Others smiled with relief]

They didn't want anyone to call off thier research. Especially at the brim of testing to see the outcome.

"But how many volts did you feed the surge with?"
[David asked]

"12, 12 volts"
[Edikan replied]*

"No, it too small, it should be 24.

"Okay"[ Gloria replied]

Gloria disconnected the voltage feed from 12 volt supply to 24 .
Then notified the others that it was done.

"Edikan. Let's see what you guys have been up to."
[David said]

"Do the honours sir and plug it in".
[Edikan said]
The others concord and David had no other options but to just do it.

When he plugged it in, switched on the socket.
A booting sound was heard from the tv. That was usual. Not what they were waiting for.
4 seconds in. A flash of logo on the screen of the tv which read LG – Life's good.
The whole workers shouted in amazement and joy.
They'd never seen anything like that.
"What ,? could this be possible or are we dreaming."
[Edikan asked.]

We're not dreaming
[Timothy replied]

"Let me call Mr Peter, he needs to see this ".
Gloria called her boss immediately to inform him.
He thought it was a prank. But No , he wasn't that cordial with them, for his workers to think of pranking him. He thought about it and decided to head back to the workshop.

On getting there, he saw the tv display pictures like nothing was wrong with it.

"So we've performed the magic?".
[He spoke in wonder].

"Do you know how rich we would become".
" This is the only place in the world that plasma tv can be converted. ......."
"Hahahahahah".

That laugh when you know you're untouchable. Mr peter couldn't control his happiness.

After that day, they brought out all the abandoned plasma tvs and decided to do same pattern. And they all came up and worked perfectly.

News circulated around the world. That at Fits Electronic. Any tv fault could be fixed . But only few close to their location could take thier plasma there for repairs, because of the cost of transportation.
Other technicians would go to repair there, so they can open up the tv to check how it was done.

After many months, the Electronics society around the world, decided to honour the Gits Electronic with an award. For finding a solution to the most biggest fault in Electronics and Electrical world.
With time, most Technicians and repairers learnt and was able to fix the fault.
All thanks to Gits Electronics.
Just like Mr Peter thought, brands and big companies collaborated with Gits.
His little workshop became and empire. They had sections for sales which he made Timothy the head. Assembling and repairs which Gloria and Edikan headed.

David had his own establishment. And was doing very well at that time.
This was the genesis of plasma conversion.
