Steemit Challenge S26-w6 : Two-timing
….Then John stretched his hand to collect the card with a soft whisper “I’ll call you” while his eyes were still glued to Tina’s charming face. John was a satisfied and happy man after departing from the bus stop because the card contained every information about Tina; her address, phone number and where she works. “Wow!” Says John after scanning through the details on the card.
Reaching home in Canberra, John couldn’t stop reflecting on his experience in the bus; the first eyes contact with the strange young lady, the deep conversation, laughter, her beautiful smile and of course that sharp connection. Could this be love at first sight?” John asked himself while in the shower
It is surprising that John totally forgot to update his wife on his arrival. At this point, he was settled and decided to continue the conversation he had on the bus with Tina.
John rushed to his trouser and pulled out the card carefully and dialed Tina’s number with a big smile on his face. Tina picked up the call as expected with a soft and tender voice; Hello….
Both chit chatted on the phone for hours and at the end of the call, he invited her for lunch date in two days time. John is human, he had this sense of a little guilt over his actions but at the same time he ignored the guilt and focused on his feelings at the moment.
The feelings were mutual between Tina and John; everything happened so fast and it felt like a fairytale not until John started coming home late at night. He started acting weird towards his wife leaving her with a lot of insecurities and unanswered questions. She keeps asking; “what’s wrong?….what’s happening to us?…. Have I done something wrong?…Are you seeing someone else?…. Can we fix things?”
The only response John could give her was; ”Don’t worry sweetheart, it’s nothing”
John stopped eating his wife’s meals, he started hiding his phones from her and continued with the new habit of coming home late.
His wife became so anxious to know what went wrong in their marriage so she decided to confront him again about the situation but John completely ignored her. Then she visited a friend and decided to open up about her marital problems and her friend advised her to stay calm and hope for the best instead of overthinking.
Days, weeks and months has passed, on this fateful day, John's wife and her friend went to a restaurant for lunch and to also discuss business. After a while, John and Tina walked in to the same restaurant holding hands and laughing not knowing that his wife was there too. John's wife caught them immediately she started crying and questioning John what he was doing with another woman.
Then Tina asked him who she was but he could not even explain so Tina got angry and walked out of the restaurant leaving John, his wife and her friend. The wife's friend comforted her then they left John there. At this point, John regretted his actions and his eye was filled with tears and shame.
After some hours he finally got the courage to go home and talk to his wife and apologized to her after two days of silence she finally accepted and said;
I accepted your apology for the sake of our daughter, I can’t be with a liar or raise my only child with a dishonest father. I need a divorce and I hope you learn to set boundaries with strangers and also learn discipline next time. She hugged him with tears in her eyes and whispered; we can only practice co-parenting at this point. While walking away, she said; “you’ll hear from my lawyer tomorrow.”
John broke down in tears, picked up his phone and blocked Tina’s contact then blamed himself for everything.
I will invite @eliany, @kouba01 @chant to share their story.
Steemit Challenge Season 26 Week-6: Two-timing
Dear @adylinah, below is the detailed assessment of your submission.
Feedback
To be honest a story that goes straight without conversation, twists and turns in fiction gives lesser impact even if it was a great read.
You deviated from the main characters but gave more importance to side characters.
Thank you for the review!
