Wordsmiths Fiction Week 1: The Disappeared Leader

“Ho, have you seen the captain”, Jake asked loudly as the second in command, Lucas hear from the upper deck of the ship. Lucas remembered seeing the Captain looking anxious and on the move as if something was on his neck. He inquired about the Captain’s welfare but the Captain snapped to reality brushing off that everything is under control. Coming back to the present time, Lucas ordered the crew to search the entire ship for the captain.

While the search was ongoing, one of the crew members discovered that one of the rescue boats is missing. The information was conveyed to Lucas who then realized that the captain is out of the ship using a rescue boat. The incident is bizarre because the Captain has the attitude of disclosing every information to him as the second in command. He immediately ordered Jake to choose a group of five for a search mission.

After selecting the agile men, they set on the mission to find the captain. They encounter a wide ocean which stands undaunted and peaceful. Jake and the rest of the crew noticed this abnormality because the sea is mostly turbulent as they have to watch for any turbulent movement. Back at the ship, Lucas motioned to the crew that the ship would sail in the direction set by the Captain till its return.

The mission of the crew was to find a hidden treasure box filled with immeasurable wealth. Since the direction was set by the Captain, Lucas decided not to interfere while looking out for the search crew or the Captain’s arrival. After several days of searching, the search team decided to bring back the heavy news to the rest of the crew.

Lucas who has always been in the watch signaled the rest of the men to draw their rescue boat and they had to deliver the information that the captain couldn’t be found. The whole crew including Lucas weren’t happy as everyone returned to their duty post in grief. Few days later, a rescue boat was sighted far from the ship which Lucas was alerted to. Using the telescope, he noticed a familiar figure which turned out to be the Captain.

He alerted the whole crew and the rescue boat was approached and drawn back to the ship. Everyone couldn’t contain their happiness as they silently hope that the Captain should remain in one piece. The captain who was drenched and weak was helped to this deck where he regained himself. While the rescue was on, the crew noticed that the Captain was holding a strange box which he refused to be taken from him.

After a period of recovery, the captain assembled the crew and appreciated them for looking out for him even if he was away for a while. He narrated that he had a mysterious voice whispering to him that he should visit for the coordinate stated for something wished for. According to the voice, he has to be alone in that journey. He has to take a rescue boat and sneak out to that coordinate but was confronted by a whirlwind which blows him in and delivered him unconscious.

He woke in a mysterious island which was regarded to retrieve a box and the rest is history. With that, he stood and announced that their search for the treasure is over cus the treasure box is found by him. Everyone was thrown into a mood of excitement. The story draws a curtain when they set sail home since their quest is over.
