Wordsmiths Fiction Week 3: Season 24 – The Last Photo
Hello, Fiction lovers. Welcome to another week of the Steemit Challenge. Well, here is my story about what happened to Nadeesha. Let's dive.

Nadeesha hadn’t come this side of the forest before. She was amused to see a few endemic animals around the lake. She captured them as much as she could. She was surprised after watching a wooden hut in the deep forest. She immediately took a photo of that. When she checked the photo, she missed a heartbeat. From where did this tall man come? Within a moment, she was captured by two men. The tall man came in front and took her camera. The other two tied her hands and blindfolded her. The man ordered them to throw her camera in a place where there would be no trace.
After walking for a while, Nadeesha felt like she was being lowered down. When they finally opened her eyes, she realized that her guess was right. She had been brought to a cave underground. Rows of small rooms. All filled with wildlife. She was shocked. So they were not smuggling wood, but wildlife.
Later that day |

‘How is she doing?’ asked Raghu, the Robber’s chief.
‘She stopped eating and talking,’ said his assistant.
‘She should not live longer. Feeding her is a waste of money,’ Raghu said.
‘Let’s kill her like others,' the assistant replied.
'No. I met a Doctor. The human body parts are also expensive. I want to sell her parts. Keep her alive,’ Raghu said.
Raghu came out of their cave. He was the person in the last photo of Nadeesha’s camera. He made this deep forest a haven for crime. The world is unaware of his crime.
Two Days Later |
---|
Ayan became worried about Nadeesha. There is no communication from her after the weekend. It’s almost 2 days. He is the Mentor of Nadeesha. Noticing her curiosity and excitement about Wildlife Photography, he helped her by teaching her tips and tricks about Wildlife photography. Nadeesha treats him as her Master. He is thinking about what happened to her. He made the communication with her family.
Hearing the incident from Nadeesha's brother, Ayan became furious. He cut the phone, saying, 'I am coming.' He is a professional software engineer. He does Wildlife Photography as a hobby. Though his portfolio is very heavy. He called his wife Bhumi, who is a Deputy Commissioner of Divisional Police. He tells her everything briefly. He asked for some information from her. He needs the database of the Forest and the criminal report for that area. Bhumi was affirmative about that as she cared for Nadeesha like her younger sister. Nadeesha is familiar with Ayan's family.

Later that day
Ayan was checking the photos taken by Nadeesha in their drawing room. It was an exhausting day. He came here and went to the police station. The police did not agree to give him Nadeesha's camera. He was successful due to his wife's influence. The family is quiet now. It’s been almost three days since they haven't had any clue about their daughter.
Ayan is excited to watch the photos taken by Nadeesha. He is amused. He noticed that there are a few Endemic animals in the forest. Ayan became curious and suspicious at the same time. Is there any relation to that animal with Nadeesha's disappearance? What if one of these animals makes her their lunch? According to the search team report, there was no blood seen anywhere near the camera. Then, what happened to her? Was she kidnapped? There was a sign of that. The last photo suggests something like this.
Ayan checked his email to see the information sent by Bhumi. He took a look at the criminal record first. Yes, there are some cases regarding tree smuggling. Few people disappeared in the forest. Now he opened the database of the forest. It’s a huge forest. Almost 200 km^2. He noticed that tree smuggling happened on the other side of the forest. Not the side from where Nadeesha disappeared. 3 people were lost from this side before. No one saw them again. Will Nadeesha face the same fate?
In the Forest |

I talked to the doctor. Get her ready. We will go to him at night. There is heavy patrolling around the forest. For that girl, maybe. I don’t want to take a risk.' – Raghu told his men.
'OK. We will be ready in time.' - The assistant replied.
Take good care of her. She is going to die anyway,' Raghu said.
Nadeesha found the tracking device in her jeans pocket. It was given to her by Ayan. Ayan himself developed this program. He gave it to her as a gift. But the problem is that the signal is not being sent from here. She thought to herself that she would send the signal as soon as she got the first chance. She guessed that she had been in captivity for two days already. However, the robbers had not harmed her so far.

Nadeesha's Home
Ayan talked to Bhumi about Nadeesha's update. Bhumi said she ordered the tightening of the security of the forest area. There was no update from Ayan's side.
It’s evening. He is still clueless. He is checking Nadeesha's room. He found the signal receiver of the tracking device he gave to Nadeesha. He is thinking, what if she carried the chip? He becomes hopeful after finding that. he told himself a signal must come. Now he is waiting with hope.
In the Forest
They take Nadeesha out of the cave. She felt like she was breathing fresh air after a long time. They blindfolded her. But this time, they didn’t tie her hands. Instead, they tie her waist. The robbers were silently passing. Sometimes they make weird sounds. Maybe their signal.
'It's the chance'- She thought. Her hand was open. She finds the device easily and presses the button immediately. She walks with the robber like nothing happened.
Nadeesha's Home
Bip! A sound awake, Ayan. Oh! A signal on the receiver. He opened the screen immediately. Recognized the signal coming from the Southeast side of the forest. 'Smart girl' - he said. Called Bhumi without spending any time. Both of them opened the map of the forest. They successfully traced the location. Bhumi responded, 'I'm doing my job.' She called the patrolling team and ordered them to gather on the southeast side of the forest and hide near the road that comes from the forest.
In the Forest
Raghu, the chief of the robbers' team, sent his man to check the main road. They are about to get out of the forest. The man came back and said, 'All Clear.' Raghu ordered to move on. It was a half-moon night. They are about to get out, suddenly a sounds come from nowhere,
'Stop and put your hands up. You're on the gun point. Any wrong move causes you to be wounded.'
Raghu and the other robbers were totally surprised. They didn’t see anyone. They were clueless. What is happening? The unknown person warned the same. They don't have any choice. They put their hands up. The police came out and turned on their lights, and rescued Nadeesha.

I would like to invite @impersonal, @zulbahri, and @max-pro to participate in this challenge.
