Wordsmiths Fiction Week 3: The Last Photo | Steemit Challenge Season 24
Greetings to All the Participants!!
Nadeesha’s Jungle Encounter
Nadeesha, aged fourteen, had a passion for wildlife photography. Without a single miss, she would carry her camera and go into the forest near her village. She keenly waited very silently Nadeesha was an adventurous individual by her nature that actually compelled her to chose wildlife photography instead of covering social events, capturing party photos or going for a head & shoulder kind of photography that would only yield money and no thrill.
She had an internal resolve that her ambition to enjoy trill and adventure wouldn’t last longer as she would have to get older and weaker some day and capturing such moments now will give her joy and lively feelings once she wouldn’t be able to have fun adventures in her later age.
Before should would even forget a bit of that horrible scene of a tall half-covered figure standing in front of a wooden hut, she pulled her Camera up and took a candid picture of the entire scene.
Hey! Who are you and what are you here for? She heard a loud and terrifying voice apparently coming from the wooden hut side. The voice was so loud as if the entire jungle heard this.
Before Nadeesha could answer this “expected” question, the tall-figure moved toward her as if he was all preparing to capture her into his long-nailed ugly hands and would teardown her into pieces. Her hear start beating immensely and for a few seconds, she lost her ability to think, move and even blink her eyes.
It was terrible to see, hear and sense which Nadeesha had never imagined of.
Nadeesha once thought to take a dare and attack beast using a stagger that she would normally carry along going for wildlife photography but unfortunately today she forgot to take it along.
She had no choice but to turn back and run as much fast as she could but this didn’t workout as the jungle surface is never supportive for such acts. Keeping her eye on beast, she moved backwards and fell into a narrow gap between two muddy heaps. For a moment she stoped breathing and soon she realised that the gap was not wide enough to allow that tall-fugue to get inside and pick her up.
She looked right left and realised that she is safe from the beast though but she so surrounded by snake holes right left. This was even more horrifying. Before trying to make an escape plan, she thought “it’s a perfect time and place to capture closeups of snakes that she long wished. This time she realised that in panic, she and dropped her camera up near the wooden hut before getting dropped into this deep, muddy and dangerous spot. She thought of crying and asking for any help but she soon realised that this would only excite the beast rather than having any help.
So she took a deep breath and instead of giving up, she started finding a way out. She collected herself and started moving towards one side the deep narrows path. To her luck she found a muddy yet soft side of this narrow pathway and stated scratching it with the hope to find some way out. She was very happy and excited that she was able to scratch it and find its way out without being visible to and half-covered bitch having nails almost a half a foot long.
To his excitement, she found a little light while scratching and moving upwards to get to surface so that she can escape and reach home one way or another. She started feeling happy and glad as there was a chance to go and meet her lovely brother before the sun would set.
The moment she surface her eyes, she was stunned to see the got even more close the wooden hut with beast still roaming around to find Nadeesha. She immediate went back into the muddy trench and started feeling that this might be her last evening in would and she would die very soon.
She collected herself and decided to explore the other side of the narrow hideout but was equally worried about the snakes that would come out of their holes after the sunset and would bite her to push her to rest in peace.
Being an adventurous in nature, she started scraping the other side of the muddy trench but hey “this is going to night in an hour and I would be lost in jungle for sure. So she decided to stay inside and wait for morning to come and begin scratching the muddy trench and find sins other way out. Feeling scary of the snakes, her mind stuck and idea to cover herself with the mud to just minimize any chance of snake bite.
This idea worked well and she remained safe the entire night, much worried though. As she notice that Sun and shown itself shining, she started scratching the other side of the muddy trench and after an efforts of two hours, she was out and away from the beast and the wooden hut. She climbed every hurdle on her way and working next two hours her was home where her parents and bother had almost their hope to meet her alive. Everyone was happy and glad. Once she got into her senses, she wowed to go back and bring her camera that she lost in the jungle. Her brother smiled and said “Nadeesha, your equipment is with us already, and let me show you the picture of the beast”. She smiled and said yes, show me!! I have already dealt with him”
