"Steemit Challenge s26wk1 : The Office Project"
Some years ago, I was in a team of ten people to accomplish a task in the office where I once worked. In the same way, Raj called her colleague across the open plan office, it was the same way one of my teammates called me in an open plan office where everyone was gathered.
When Maya was asked about their keys, she boldly said that what they have is not theirs but that of a military grade. Hearing this, Raj frowned and said, What brought military encryption inside their own, which is meant for commercial activities.
The Discovery
For over hours, the term dug deeper. They used more advanced decoders, which they had never used before, as they were preserving them to be used for top clients.
They didn't find anything surprising but terrifying. A hidden predictive algorithm was contained in the file, and the algorithm can forecast the stock market, political events, civil unrest, and so on, which is 95% correct. The worst part is not about what they've found, as it seemed to feed on real-time surveillance information.
Jenna whispered and said the project we're in is a government project and someone among us is using the infrastructure we have to run the project without our concept (approval).
The Plan
As a team, they all agreed to document everything they are doing. Maya wrote out a detailed plan of what they had all agreed to do on a whiteboard.
Copy and save the encrypted data offline
Track the source of the infiltration by tracing it.
Decide if they should go public or consult senior management.
Their mysterious discoveries
The office they were in felt like a room where war was going on. Tension arose and the team began arguing with one another. Few were afraid to speak loudly for fear that bosses might still be in the office.
Raj replied to Jenna, who brought up the idea by saying We are dead in the water if our bosses are still in the office. Maya said no, that cannot happen, by hitting her hand on the desk, which she then said, "We have come this far to be afraid of anyone, and we must come together and finish what we have started.
The Error
The system glitched as soon as they were about to complete the trace. The code they have written moves faster than they could imagine.
The remote had been triggered and someone who was outside knew they were inside the file. Maya shouted aloud and said, "Kill the connection". The worst part of it was when everything went dark due to the Ethernet cable.
The Result
The error occurred from an Argon Black system, which is a third-party contractor that has been out of business for more than 5 years. A journalist working for a private company that is afraid of being arrested was the one they gave the encrypted drive to.
After some weeks, what they thought wouldn't be known to the public was known to the public as they got exposed. The government refuses to comment but chooses to remain silent, and Vortix Solutions denies its involvement.
At their office, they return to their respective projects on the surface. Within them, they knew they knew the thread they had pulled, which might be known one day. At their next meeting, Maya said, "If by chance I am version 1, I won't imagine what or compare with what version 2 can do".

Amazing... great job 👏 👍
Thank you very much for inviting me good luck for the contest dear..
My pleasure
I really enjoyed how you wove human emotion into this high-stakes tech mystery. The team’s fear, determination, and quick decision-making all felt authentic, and the dialogue really brought the characters to life. The “Kill the connection” moment had me on edge, and the final line about “version 2” was such an ominous way to close. I think a little more detail on the journalist’s role could have added even more depth to the resolution, but overall this was an exciting and thought-provoking read.
