Steemit Challenge s26wk1 : The Office Project

At SkyTech Innovations the time was Monday morning. By the time the office buzz started the sun had just reached the glass windows. A project called Orion was given to a small team of six people to work on. Orion was merely a new data security management program on paper. However something about it felt unique. Sara the team leader called everyone to the conference room. She drank a big cup of coffee and remarked Friends I have been looking at the Orion files all night. Triple encryption is used to secure some parts of the code. They are older than the business itself which is odd.

The coder Rafi scowled. That isn't possible. How are files from before the company ever formed included in our project? The researcher Hamza leaned forward. If Orion isn't truly new that is. Perhaps it's an extension of a long forgotten experiment. They made the decision to look further.

The Start Hint
An ancient data decryption tool that Rafi had constructed while in college was the special gadget that Sara plugged into the server. Strange numerals resembling coordinates flashed on the screen. The site indicated a closed storage area in the company's basement when they mapped them. "I've worked here five years and I've never seen that room open " Hamza said. Although the team utilized their access cards a real key was required to open the door. At that point HR officer Meera recalled an old filing cabinet in the archives that contained unused keys. Indeed they located one with the B-12 marking.

The mystery Room
Dust rotated in the basement chamber under the flashlights on their phones. There was a locked metal box in one corner. The lock was picked by Rafi. There were scribbled notes floppy disks and a fading folder marked Orion Phase One. According to the notes Orion started off as a global satellite-based data shield project that could stop hacking anywhere in the world twenty years ago. But because of unresolved ethical concerns it had been halted. If finished Orion could make one company more powerful than any government Sara read out loud.

The Plan and the Errors
Rafi saw that there were intentional faults in the old Orion code. If the wrong people used it someone wanted it to fail he remarked. The group came up with a plan: Correct the code mistakes. Include safety layers to guard against abuse. Deliver it to the board in a transparent manner. It was now a mission rather than merely a project.

In the office racial tension and melodrama increased. After observing the staff working late a few managers inquired. Mr. Qasim a suspicious executive attempted to view their data. He is trying to download the old code Rafi block him now. Sara pleaded in a late-night scenario. Rafi swept his fingers across the keyboard. "Blocked. But we have to get this done quickly. Orion will be sold to the highest bidder if Qasim wins it.

The Last Effort
The squad seldom slept for three weeks. They debated over every aspect and tested and retested. Sara oversaw the entire process Meera made sure that ethical standards were followed and Hamza kept the study factual. At last they had a functional system that could safeguard data globally without ending up in the wrong hands.

The end goal
Sara and her colleagues presented Orion's history the secret and their refined version during the board meeting. It stunned the board. They had not only found a long lost project but they had made it better than anyone could have imagined. Orion was introduced all over the world in a few of months. With the support of governments corporations and millions of consumers SkyTech rose to become the most trusted IT company globally. We started with a mystery and ended with history. Rafi said with a smile as they watched the news coverage in their workplace. We didn't just find Orion we finished it Sara added turning to her colleagues.

Feedback

  • You checked most of the contest's boxes like hidden truth, melodrama, a plan, and a win at the end but the "fantasy" side was undercooked, making it feel more like a straightforward corporate thriller than a transportive piece of fiction.
