SLC-S26/W1 | The Office Project
Greetings to all Dear Steemians!!
On Monday morning, everyone in Orion Dynamics’ R&D department was busy with their own work. I was at my desk, going through some files, when suddenly, the old printer in the corner started up. No one had sent any command, yet paper after paper began rolling out.
I got up to check, and at the top of the first page, in bold letters, it read: CLASSIFIED – DO NOT DUPLICATE. The header said: Project Halcyon: Phase 0. My heart started racing.
I immediately called Omer, our software lead. Soon, Mustafa (our data analyst) and Aliya (our mechanical engineer) joined us. We all stared at the document, It was a complete twelve-year-old code and dataset, for a system capable of predicting economic trends with 98.7% accuracy. At the bottom, it said: “Halted due to ethical concerns.”
We decided to test it ourselves before informing the manager. We dug out old servers from the storage room, booted up dusty computers in the lab, and linked them to the VR testing lab’s network. The code was outdated, the data incomplete.
Omer patched the code, Mustafa retrieved missing data from archived records, and I set up a secret server, naming it “Wellness App” so no one would suspect anything.
When the first prediction came in, we just looked at each other the price of oil would drop in three days.
Aliya said, “If this gets out, the market will explode. There’ll be chaos everywhere.”
I replied, “And if it’s right… we’ll have the most powerful financial tool in the world, and we’ll be at the very top.”
But then, a problem hit us — there was an unknown login attempt on our server. We realized someone knew, and they were inside the office. Aliya rushed to lock the server room, Mustafa encrypted all the data, and I tried to casually keep the manager distracted in conversation.
When I subtly mentioned “Phase 0,” his expression changed completely as if someone had just taken away his breath. He only said, “You shouldn’t be involved in this. There’s no need for you to read it.”
By Friday, we had tested three predictions all of them came true. That day, we gave a live demo to the board, predicting the results of a foreign election… and a few hours later, the outcome was exactly as we said.
After that, Orion Dynamics’ name was everywhere. Governments, corporations everyone was lining up for this technology.
Believe me, our happiness knew no bounds.
A few months later, we were standing on the balcony of Orion Tower, coffee cups in hand, looking over the city lights. Aliya smiled and said, “From an old printer to the top of the corporate world… unbelievable.”
I just laughed lightly and said, “When you find the truth, it feels like you should go looking for more hidden ones.”
She gave me a questioning look.
I added, “Maybe… there’s another printer in the archives, ready to start printing.”
In the end , I would like to invite my Steemit fellows @jonspha @drhira and @artist1111 for for the Participation and valuable feedback. Thank you.
