Dennis walk out from office that night with anger still in his eyes. Jenny words was burning like fire inside him. One evening, after a long meeting, Dennis walk into a cafe near his office. He only want black coffee to stop his headache. But when he enter, his eyes stop moving. At corner table, Jenny was sitting, reading a book. For a moment time freeze. She look same, maybe little mature, but her presence was still warm. His heart beat fast. For second he want to leave. But something inside push him forward.
“Jenny” he whisper.
She look up. Surprise come in her eyes, then a small polite smile. “Hello Dennis,” she say, voice calm but a little distant. Dennis sit down without asking. His hands was shaking. “I, I never got a chance to say sorry. That evening I was wrong. My ego, my anger, everything. I should never speak those words.”
Jenny look at him, her eyes still calm. “It was long ago. Life moved on.”
But Dennis hear pain hidden in her tone. He lean forward. “Life moved on, but not for me. I achieve everything, but emptiness never leave me. Without you, all of this feels like nothing. I don’t deserve second chance, but still, I am asking.”

Jenny close her book. For some time she not speak. Café was full of sound, cups clinking, people laughing but for them, world was silent. She remember those days. How much she care for him. How his words cut her like knife. But she also remember his kindness before the fight, how he was always standing with her in small and big troubles.

You hurt me Dennis,” she finally say. “You broke something inside me that day. Do you even know how hard it was for me?”

Dennis nod, his eyes wet. “I know. And that pain never leave me. Everyday I live with it. Please… give me chance to fix it. Let me be the man you needed.”

Jenny look outside the window. Evening sun was falling, sky turning orange. Her heart fight between anger and forgiveness. Silence was heavy. After some time she sigh. “Maybe people do deserve second chances… if they really change.” Hope light up in Dennis eyes. “I change, Jenny. I am not same man anymore. Let me prove to you.”

Jenny give soft smile, real this time. “Alright, Dennis. But no more ego, no more pride. If we try again, we walk together as equal.”
Dennis hold her hand carefully, almost afraid it will slip. “I promise.”
