Amazing write up on what must have been pretty damn disturbing back at the time. I only watched this last decade but I could feel its power and creepiness, even in black and white.

The only other truly scary kids that I can think of ( besides all movies you named ), are the child like creatures in Cronenberg's The Brood. Man, they creep me out, every single time :>)
