RE: Dolemite is My Name (film): Wonderful return for Eddie Murphy

If you ever wanna check out the peak of Rudy's career, watch Petey Wheatstraw. That movie is absolutely fucking ridiculous, in a good way.

Also, I think this movie would pair really well with Ed Wood for back to back viewing. Seems like it's probably a very similarly done movie.

Sort:

or watch the modern films (since they share a similar underdog theme) of this and The Disaster Artist

I actually wasn't that huge of a fan of The Disaster Artist. I didn't really feel like I got much out of it because I had already seen the room, and it was just recreating scenes from The Room for the most part. I really, really wish they had gone into other stuff from Mark's book, there's a lot of shit that would have been really interesting to see on film. But, I'm assuming Tommy Wiseau probably wouldn't have any of that, because he doesn't want people to think he's a walking catfish in a suit.

But, for anyone who hasn't seen The Room that would probably be a good pairing for sure. It's not a stinker of a movie or anything, I just wish it would have went in a different route. At least we got the franco brothers with weird sexual undertones. Gotta represent Alabama, baby.
