Hoverfly – The Tiny Garden Helper
Hoverfly is a small insect that look a bit like a bee but it do not sting. It can be seen flying quickly from one flower to another, often staying still in the air for a few seconds. Hoverflies love bright flowers and they help plants by carrying pollen, just like bees do. They are very useful in gardens because their larvae eat tiny pests like aphids that harm plants.
Hoverflies like warm sunny weather and are most active during the day. They come in many colors, usually yellow and black, which make them easy to spot. Even though they are small, hoverflies play a big role in keeping gardens healthy and full of life.
