Sego Gurih, a Typical Taste of Sekaten Yogyakarta

The Sekaten series of events always attracts tourists and locals with a variety of traditional activities. One of the main attractions is the traditional culinary offerings, especially the popular sego segar, or savory rice.

Lastri, one of the vendors, explained that she sells exclusively during Sekaten. "I live in Wonosari, and I sell this sego segar exclusively during Sekaten," she said.

She admitted that she starts selling from five in the morning until around one in the morning. "All the food is always fresh, and the opening hours are special because it's the Sekaten celebration," Lastri added with a chuckle.

Lastri's sales hours are different from normal days, lasting eight consecutive days. This is to ensure visitors can enjoy sego segar during the festival.

Meanwhile, Fika, one of the customers, admitted that this was her first time trying sego segar during Sekaten. "I'm curious about what sego segar tastes like during Sekaten; it's definitely different from usual," she said.

Sego segar contains side dishes such as omelet, shredded chicken, peanuts, cabbage, cucumber, krecek chili sauce, and dried tempeh.
Rambak crackers also complement the dish, with prices varying from Rp 10,000 per portion.
