Recently, I've been researching food posts online out of boredom and came across a recipe that mixes several fruits, claiming it's incredibly delicious. The next day, I immediately bought those fruits and treated the mix like a science experiment, dumping them all into a big bowl and stirring them up to try.

The fruits were lychees, passion fruits, and mangosteens. If you have blueberries on hand, adding them would make the dish more visually appealing than mine—it definitely boosts the presentation! Though my mixed fruit didn’t look great (some might even find it disgusting), the taste was surprisingly good. The sweetness, acidity, and aromas of the fruits complement each other perfectly. (Pro tip: Use ripe, sweet mangosteens instead of sour ones.)

The key to this fruit mix is chilling it—trust me, the texture gets way better. If you’re too impatient to wait, just throw in some ice cubes. I have a special ice cube tray at home shaped like a tiny square storage box; it’s super practical. Once the ice is frozen, you just flip the tray and press, and all the cubes pop out. I need to write a post to recommend this tool soon—it’s a game-changer!

I’ve been trying to maintain my weight (ahem, or rather, for weight management), so I usually skip heavy carbs for breakfast or keep them minimal. My typical breakfast is eggs, fruits, soy milk, or corn—since corn is a complex carb that doesn’t leave me in a carb coma.

But this morning, I broke my routine and bought two "glutinous rice chicken" (a specialty of Hubei province, where glutinous rice is stuffed with diced tofu or meat, then wrapped in flour and fried). I ate about 1.5 of them at around 8 AM and threw the rest away, then made myself a cup of mint green tea.

Within 30-40 minutes, by 9 AM, I started feeling the carb coma hit—overwhelming drowsiness, heavy eyelids, and my work efficiency in front of the computer tanked. The tea didn’t help at all. I dare not drink coffee because I’m sensitive to caffeine now; it gives me a racing heart and palpitations. Ugh!

I’m still sleepy as hell... Is this because I’m getting old, and my body can’t regulate high-GI carbs like it used to? When I was in my teens or twenties, I could eat steamed buns, mantou, and hot dry noodles every morning without feeling this tired!
