About Love (and Lasagna

in #foodyesterday

Greetings, loving travelers!

I'm starting it hot today: Lasagna was never a food I liked eating. I'm not sure if it was the layered and hard bits of pasta, the steamy and creamy combination of lots of cheese and tomato sauce (yeah, I was not much into pizza, too), or even if I somewhat disliked that lazy cat that hates Mondays. But the thing is, or better, it wasn't ever my thing.

And what in the world, or in what world, does it have anything to do with Love? Well, first off, that'd be a silly question to ask; love can be in many, but never in too many, things in this Universe of ours. Furthermore, I dare to say that in almost any human creation, depending on context and intention, there can be love. Secondly, cooking for another being, at least the way that I learned, always involves it as the special ingredient. Yes, my grandma is definitely proud of me right now. And finally, this one was special because it was made especially for me, by my love.

Nurturing any interpersonal relationship, as you probably know, takes a lot of time and effort. And building a partnership with someone you love is even more complex. There are different layers of intimacy that need to be built from the ground up, one by one. Just like my beloved Mathematics, it's a stairway in which we need to climb each learning step one at a time, without skipping any; 'cause that's how you stumble and fall to a previous step to learn again.

You probably know what else has layers, don't you? That's also a great way of registering the recipe of it... The base layer consisting of a well seasoned tomato sauce, with no shortage of onions or garlic, covered up by a blanket layer of mozzarella cheese slices. On top goes the iconic Lasagna pasta, which I still think that is maybe a bit too firm, and then on top of it comes down the deliciously prepared minced meat. You can choose which type of protein serves you best, but make sure to season it well and blend it with the tomato sauce. After that, it's just a game of repeating steps, layer by layer. You already have a new base layer with meat and sauce, so there should go some cheesy blankets over, and another pasta layer on top. Repeat it until you reach the height you want it, and don't forget to grate some parmesan cheese over it, to finalize the cooking by gratining it. The time the dish needs in the oven should vary by the size of your portion, but pre-heating the tool and having patience are two good suggestions I can give you. Using a lower temperature to cook the lasagna, and ending with a higher one to better gratin the cheese, is definitely my recommendation.

Oh, my dear interlocutor, how sad it is to think that I don't have any more of this delicious lasagna from my love to eat... Writing so much about it made me miss it! But I'm glad I had the idea to register this beautiful photo of it, and upload it with no filters:

Well, but not to say that I didn't have at least some more to cheer for, my dear isa also made a mini version just for me, and I cannot state how happy I was to be heating it for my lunch on one of the most difficult days of this week.

It was a great reminder that love can be transmitted even in a small piece of glass with food in it. I can't remember this lasagna without remembering how much love I'm honoured to live amongst in this Existence; and that's special af.

I know that lasagna is a type of food that most people breathing in our planet in this moment enjoy having. You know what else most people would enjoy? #lifetime-rewards for their posts! And that's exactly what @thoth.test is trying to achieve, and I'm supporting it's cause setting 5% of the rewards of this post to it. Another 25% are set to @null , to hopefully help in fighting inflation in our network. #burnsteem25

I know I've stated it before, but I don't think it's ever gonna be enough for me: I'm so lucky to be living with such a collection of amazing people besides me. I've made mistakes, and not few, but I keep learning, every single day, how to be a better person. And I hope that, as love, and maybe lasagna, continue to spark more good things in everyone's lives, that this wounded world can heal, for everyone living in it.

Take these words as a motivation to hug someone you love (:
