Lets Cook Vietnamese Beef Stew! So Tender, So Juicy, So Satisfying
Hello, how are you doing, my friends? Hope everything is going well for you. I’m sending warm greetings from my cozy little kitchen here in Da Nang. And guess what? Today I want to share with you a beef stew recipe that never fails me. Every single time I make it, it turns out so incredibly delicious, tasty, and comforting. But don’t worry, it is really simple to make it.
Are you ready, let’s get cooking!
Ingredients:
- 300-400gr of beef (beef brisket or beef shank depend on whichever you prefer, mine is beef brisket)
- 2-3 potatoes
- 2-3 ripe tomatoes
- Salt, fish sauce, black pepper, msg(if want),
- Garlic, ginger, shallot, spring onion
- Cooking oil
How to make it:
Step 1: Cut the beef into small cubes and in a big bowl with the beef, add some salt, fish sauce, chopped ginger, garlic, shallot and little msg if you like, at last some cooking oil and marinate for at least 20 mins so the beef can be absorbed the spices and help tenderize the meat. You can control the taste as you want by adjusting the seasoning.
Step 2: After 20 mins of marinating, heat the pan and pour some cooking oil in, saute the chopped garlic and shallot until fragrant,
then pour the beef in and quickly stir fry. Make sure the heat is high because it makes the beef cooked but still keep the juicy inside it. If you cook it too long with low heat, it makes the beef more chewy.
When the beef is 90% cooked and looks like this in my photo, pour in enough water to cover it.
Step 3: After cooking the beef for 20 mins, add tomatoes and potatoes in
Simmer for at least 20 more minutes. When you try the beef, it is as tender as you want, it is almost done. Taste the broth and adjust the seasoning if needed. As we added more water before, it might need a little extra salt or fish sauce at this time.
Step 4: When the beef is tender, add some chopped spring onion and back pepper in.
And here we are, it is a beautiful delicious beef stew that we have.
This dish is perfect with white rice. Beef is juicy and tender, savory broth/sauce that I stew for a long time so all the best from the ingredient is there. Potatoes made the sauce even thicker and naturally sweeter.
One more thing, you can add carrots in the beef stew if you want but at the time I cooked, I didn’t have any carrot left so just potatoes. It still turned out tasty.
Hopefully you like my nutritious and delicious beef stew. Sometimes, just make some good food for yourself and your loved one to enjoy it and share good moments. Good food is good for your soul.
That’s it for today. Take care and happy cooking. Love you all!
