Do you really go to the country of 1000 beers and ask for bitter? I drink bitter in the UK, but Belgium has some great beers of its own. You need to embrace the local culture, although it sounds like you got into the swing of it. Did you actually get to the conference?

Some of those Belgian beers are nothing like Heineken. I like the variety.
