Much like you, graduations (both my undergrad and my MBA) were more important to my parents than they were to me.

I attended the ceremonies solely for them, not me.

My late father once said, "If you don't celebrate your achievements in life, you end up postponing happiness forever. Joy becomes a moving target that is impossible to hit..."

Now that I am "seasoned" (BTW, did you know that 56 y/o is the new 36? Lol!), I see the wisdom in my late father's words.
