This post is especially for @karenb54, because her beautiful pet rat, Lilith recently died. I thought maybe seeing my daughters very well loved ratties would make her smile!
Rats only live about two years so you have to love them a lot while you can!
And I'll just say that I have learned to appreciate them, but I am also really glad that they live at Alli's house!

Is keeping rats as pets popular where you are. I don't think it is over here. At least I have never heard of it.
They are not in the top 10. More people have hamsters. But the people I know that have them love them a lot!
I see. Over here, some keep hamsters. So far, I have never know of any one keeping rats.
Are there pet rats that have mean attitudes and try to bite you?
Two of them have bitten her when they were startled. Both times she realized she had been petting the dog and stuck her hand in their cage without washing it. They didn't break the skin... Or at least that's what she told me. They are cautious around strangers, but they love her. They are smart little critters!
That's what I've heard ....
I can already tell what my nephews would say and how they would react if they see these photos: "Aww, so cute!" Then they would ask their mom if they can have one, too lol!
They have a swimming pool with a ramp that she puts in their cage most days so that they can go for a swim. They also have a tote with dirt in it and they love digging through the dirt. She cooks them pasta for treats and they love peas which she often puts into the swimming pool and they go diving for the peas. They really are a lot of fun and she interacts with them constantly.
Sounds like spoiled little furries :D

And hers got to be very good friends with their vet! The first bunch she had started off as feeder rats that she rescued from the pet store. So they were interbred and had lots of health issues. Lesson learned . This group of girls had a much better start in life!
Love that there is one named Templeton. He isn't fat enough for a proper Templeton though. Give that rat a heaping load of pig scraps :)

My daughter and her husband both drive Subaru cars, and her favorite is the one named Subie. She has her bedroom escape proof so that she can take a couple of them in there to run around while she is working on her homework.
They do love to come out and play but can be very quick. I love watching them on youtube too, some of them are trained really well.
They are pretty darn cute!! Although I have Phil (guinea pig that some people think is a rat), I can appreciate a pet rat and they are loving creatures much like other pets. My sister and nephew have a couple for pets but I think my husband would draw the line if I ever brought a rat home..I barely got away with having Phil..lol!
They would not be at the top of my list as a pet that I would want to have. It is fun to go over and play with hers though.
