That's why the rooster. For year two and up :) I see stock chickens everywhere lol
I was hearing about the benefits of these breeds that aren't production type bird like my old GSLs. They'll lay a bit less, like 250 instead of 300 eggs a year, but they'll lay for a little longer to make up for it. I'm gonna see if I'm okay with that, especially considering how much prettier these birds are. Aesthetic may matter a bit too much to me lol

I liked the idea of a prettier flock, and for a few years tried for it. But on a single disability income, these birds had to earn their way. So we went for production (meat and eggs) over pretty. Sigh...
