A Step Too Far - A Party Game For Horrible People

in #games2 days ago

All you need for this party game is some paper or dry erase board and a group of friends with roughly equally dark humor.

The starting player is chosen by who was the last person to commit a crime. Minor infractions like jaywalking and speeding count. If no one has ever broken a law proceed to another game.

The first player says a benign phrase, like "the sky is blue".

Each subsequent player tries to come up with a phrase that is one "step" more unsettling than the last.

So player two might say "I hate sunny days." and player three might say "I don't like animals."

At any point another player can call "Fair!" or "Foul!" if the phrase given is less unsettling or excessively unsettling (a step too far) compared to the previous phrase given.

The table votes, and if a majority agree with the accuser then the accuser gains a point and the phrase giver loses a point.

If a player feels the previous phrase can not be beaten they can "Jump the shark". This removes them from the round and passes the turn. If the entire table jumps the shark, the phrase giver gets two points.

The "winner" is the first player to reach ten points, or whatever arbitrary number is chosen at the beginning of the game.
