Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead Community Survivors

in #gaming7 years ago

Over the weekend, I played Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead and it inspired me to do something that I've seen people do with a few other games.

The way that it works is that the game is played with characters named after other members of the community, and potentially (if there's interest), the save-file gets passed around between multiple players. Right now we're going to be starting with randomly generated characters, so there may be a little disparity between survivors, but that's part of the fun.

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a brutal post-apocalyptic roguelike with a lot of complex systems, including a shared world.

Our "goal" is to figure out a way to maximize the survival time of each character. If we do a "pass-the-save" system, we'd probably do one player per week, with each player being expected to do at least a little earnest effort. We'd probably start that after a little while for people to get used to the game and to get a setup guide written (Cataclysm is actively developed, but updates aren't posted too frequently.

Right now my main goal is to acquire a list of "volunteers" for attempts to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Currently the league is:
@loreshapergames (me)
@volderhein
@ilazramusic
@cancermage

Each game will be recorded/reported by the players. I'll personally live-stream them and record them, using OBS, then write a dramatized account of events.

I'll tentatively include anyone who wants to be added to the league. If there's enough interest, I'll also try and get the pass-the-save stuff ready to go as well.
