RE: Retro Review - Final Fantasy VII
I've never played FFVII but it really was huge, wasn't it? It changed everything. It broke the JRPG barrier in America and changed the way stories were told in RPGs forever. Its graphics were of such quality that they immediately staked out RPGs as the genre of great graphics, a mantle which they held for over a decade. So too was the soundtrack influential - without FFVII the trend of choirs in videogame music, particularly battle music, would never have started. A truly influential game that changed things across the board and inspired a generation.
Exactly as you say.
